What is your thought and perspective about the statement, do you agree with this statement?

School na scam is a popular slang that you would probably hear from a frustrated Nigerian student who is tired of the dilapidated, never changing state of the education system in the country.

Do you think this statement is valid or misleading?

I don't believe that school na scam, because it pays to be schooled in any discipline and be filled with knowledge. While I do not resort to the slang that it is a waste, the administration has failed the education system. It is a hardship to write the as ission exam and get into your desired university, it is a hassle to survive the different world in the college, and It is the survivalll of the fittest in the labor market.
Shool is not a waste of time, it is the administrative system that is a scam. It is the government that has made education lacking with their neglect.

Education is the bedrock of any society but the administration that have done nothing to improve the learning standards that is why you would see an outdated course outline when there is a whole lot to learn.

Do you have any personal experience or from someone you know to back up your take on the statement? Do share with us.

After graduating from high school, it took me four(4) trials to get into the university. At that point, I almost considered doing something else but thankfully, I later got in. My course was a 5 year course but we spend 6 years. Why? Internal and external strike, constant postponement of the academic session. At this point, some of my course mates left school to start a business, while we spent 6 years in school, some of my colleagues alrrady have a steady business.

If you're in support of the statement, what would be your alternative to schooling and if not what would be your advice?

I am not in support of this statement. Schooling is important, even if you are not going to a university to do so, it is good to learn a skill. It is never good to be comfortable with less, mediocrity will get you nowhere. Currently, there are thousands of skills you can learn in a year or two on the internet. It does not have to be a professional course. There are digital skulls like;

  • Digital Marketing
  • Graphic designs
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Social media marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Data Analysis
  • Programming
    I could go on and on, but it still cements my opinion that you can learn without going to school in Nigeria.

Another alternative is to register for an international program while in Nigeria. It is very possible, just ensure that you have a laptop, register for their remote program, follow through with the lectures, write your exams, and get a certificate to work.

I apprecaite @lhorgic for hosting this co test and invite @confydence, @lifeoflee, sahmie to take part in this contest.
