The Impact of Protest on Business, Work, & Religious Activities

Dear countrymen,

It is no longer news the impact of the ongoing protest and hunger demonstration in the country and its devastating effect on the economy and other human activities. It is saddened to know that human lives have been lost as this protest continues to surge at an alarming rate. This is aisde those injured during stampede and security agency's clash.

The irony here is that both categories of people in the war front are all hungry. The civilians and security enforcement agencies. This is a "HUNGRY PROTEST" demonstration to showcase displeasure in the continued bad governance suffered so far by the citizens of the country. Everyone is impacted except the political class who have access to our national treasury at will.

This is the picture of a workplace on the second day of the protest. A workplace that sees a beehive of activities of its customers who want to either swap their lines or link them to the compulsory NIN platform as directed by the national government. It is a ghost of itself as there are no humans in attendance or canopy to house overflow of those outside the premises.

We hosted a breakfast meeting in my church but the numbers in attendance were not what we expected. The usual host station, which ordinarily should have at least 25 members in attendance, only had about 12 members, including their priest. This only showed the effect of the ongoing protest in the country.

We can not overemphasize the overbearing effect of this whole activity on the nation's economic activities. Billions worth of economic activities have been distorted and as well destroyed in terms of infrastructure. There is always a thin line between protest and violence. This thin line is always seen violated and we can not blame the hungry citizens for this irrational action. Do we need to slide into this state before we start doing the correct thing? The answer is no.

After a whopping 3 days of national protest after a 10-day slated protest, the presidency deemed it fit to come and speak without any solution in view. Consolation and paying tribute to the demise during the protest isn't enough. Why are we not talking about the solutions to all raised concerns?

It is becoming obvious that the government isn't bothered about the sufferings of the citizens or rather insensitive to their plights but rather only concerned about their selfish plights.

I dont know who and who that still have strength to talk about the misgivings of our country. Most people don't talk about them anymore. They have all given up on the country's affairs given the level of suppression and oppression that runs across the country's shores.

Is the insecurity of lives.and property, cost of food in the market, petroleum prices, cost of transportation, foreign exchanges, cost of accommodation, etc. Just name it! They are all out of the windows. There is abject poverty and hunger!

God help us...

You are right, the protest has really affected every sector ranging from business work and even high price of commodity most especially the fuel aspect and even students as well there by causing authority to postpone the examination. We hope for the best.
