Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC)| S12W5- "My Skill Takes Me Up"

Hi friends, it is another brand new week here once more to make my entry into the community. It is good to note that skills are man's helping hands in terms of financial income earnings.

A skill is that handiwork or that very thing that we are best at doing that in turn places us above others. This skill may be in crafts or in our professional fields of activities. Therefore, when we put our knowledge to work and carry out our duties competently enough with our initiatives, this may be likened to a skill.

You see this thing called skills, it could either be earned over years of experience in what we do because of the regular activities we indulge in. It could also be earned by the training or learnings we found ourselves due to the capacity it could be added to our badge. Most importantly, it comes with the physical strength or intelligence exhibited.

I also categorize skills in different forms as they may be viewed from other perspectives but generally mean the same thing. The FUNCTIONAL skill represents those skills we've learned over time for indulging in our place of work. They may not be quantified but could be harnessed by our decision-making abilities and other work or office calculations.

The next is SELF-INTEGRATED skills which is observed from our ability to deal with the challenges of our environment. It comes with our physical abilities, strength, and resourcefulness. Due to the evolving of environmental and economic situations in our immediate environment, it is pertinent to earn a skill within this category to help ourselves economically and financially.

The last in this list is the SPECIAL OR KNOWLEDGE-BASE skill. They are mostly professionally developed in our field of experience. This might be belonging to a professional body by passing their skilled tests and examinations. They are the highest form of skills earned by any individual as they come with a lot of professionalism in the area.

	My Professional Driven Skill

In my country Nigeria, earning a skill is the ultimate goal of everyone this time. Both the government workers who complain of poor remunerations and living wages and the unemployed. The country's economy has continued to degenerate in all fonts of its developmental strides hence making survival a tasking one for most of its citizens.

We can see some civil servants who have provision stores, who are into tailoring or engaging in one craft or the other. At this moment, they are doing government, and at the end of their paid job, they switch over to their crafts to also earn.

Skills are needed very much to survive as citizens have resorted to this way of life by earning one irrespective of the level of expertise so as to survive.

I will be talking about my immediate environment and geopolitical environment. The South-Eastern part of the country is a densely commercialized environment where trade and investment are found in every nuke and cranny of the state.

Aba City is also known as the commercial hub of the state and the largest market in West Africa. This shows it has some dominance in shoe manufacturing in Africa due to its skills in that area.

What about its textile trades? This is another great fit it has earned in the region and country at large. This means that other citizens and traders from other states visit the state on some particular days for textile trade purchases.

In those days with Tuesday inclusive, there are high commercial vehicular and human movements in the state. Unprecedented traffic jams are seen due to the surge of people commuting to purchase textile materials. Today, some roads are unpassable as traders and customers block these entrances.

Another skill I've also observed to have taken dominance is the tailoring section. They will say, there is no design or dress outfit that cannot be produced and reproduced in Aba. All they needed was a sample of what was made and the next would be a mass production of the same design at a cheaper and affordable price.

In my previous discussion earlier I explained the different forms of skills one may find himself. I mentioned about the functional, self-integrated, and special/knowledge-based skills. I find myself falling into the functional and knowledge-based skill type.

My type of job is one that requires decision-making strength to harp into the required gains as expected of the company. Some form of calculations are required to make extrapolations and determined strategies to earn acquisitions.

As an experienced retail sales personnel, I have come to gain some level of experience over the decade in sales-related activities. So high-level decision making and thinking to make informed strategies. Preparing of route plans and anchoring in better worker-customer relationship management has been a propeller for me.

Over time, I have also enrolled in some symposia, workshops, and other forms of A-level training to further prepare me for the tasks ahead. This and many more of the knowledge-base and functional skills I have earned which I have also replicated on the sidelines.

I have floated and nurtured an SME business that has grown to fend for itself with little or no effort. Some promotional offerings are sponsored to increase yields and acquisitions which in turn expands the Ongoing Service Revenue Commission (ORSC) earned from the company.

In summary, skills are definitely the bedrock for one's economic and financial enhancement. It puts you a step further than your contemporaries and also makes you dependable in discharging your tasks as required. Many developed countries understood this a long time ago and positioned their skill centers for the betterment of all their citizens.
