Another great moment to participate once again in this noble community. Good to know I am consistently making progress here with my weekly participation in the community as well as other great communities out there. Security matters as this week's topic emphasis is a great one to allow us to talk about how best we need this measure to protect our lives out there. The security of lives and property is everyone's business be it government or individuals as this is the only way we can ensure we live and others receive the same as well.

In the context of this engagement, the word security may apply in different spheres of life but this would be narrowed for comprehension and better understanding in the community. It is an act of ensuring that the lives and property of a given place are guaranteed. This derives its place from most constitution of the world that stipulates that it is the right of every citizen to live. And in doing so, the government has an obligation to guarantee the security of human lives and properties.

At the government level, we see the formation of different security agencies ranging from military formations, the police, and other paramilitary formations that include joint civilian task forces. They are saddled with a singular responsibility which is to dish protection to the citizens by enforcing the law void of any bias, tribe, or religion. They are supposedly the last hope of the people due to the tertiary protective measures it come with.

On the other hand, individuals are also expected to have their obligations to guarantee security to themselves and others around them. They are to be sure they live right and report suspicious movements to the closest police stations around them. I could remember the slogan "If you see something, Say Something". Individuals are also expected to
conscious of their environment while knowing when and how to use their spaces at all times.

Be it the government or individuals, security is everybody's business. It is the livewire that guarantees peaceful coexistence among people of diverse tribes and religions.

My country has been doing its best to ensure the security of lives and properties. MY country is presently battling insurgency in the northeastern part of the country and this has consumed a lot of resources. Several formations and operations have been established to help fight this menace head-on but just as we know, issues of gorilla insurgencies are always not as far-reaching as anticipated.

Other than that, my country has been more divided than united and this over time has brought about an insecurity that is fast consuming some parts of the country. Though there are supposedly conversations ongoing by the government and the affected parties on these concerns to help douse this tension. I think he really needs to do more and listen more to the people and know how it pains them.

There are ongoing efforts in place to help caution the uniqueness of security breaches in different parts of the country. Just as we have Operation Python Dance, Operation Safe Heaven, Military-Civilian JTFs, etc. These are some of the kinetic approaches used. Some other non-kinetic approaches are the use of Amnesty for repentant terrorists, negotiation of their demands, etc.

I do not have a gun or have any license to bear arms, therefore what I do for myself would be primarily knowing some security tips and intelligence to enable me to coexist effectively within my environment. Due to the peculiarity of my environment, it is a place where nightlife isn't at its best, and hence there is a need for me to stay off keeping late. There are lots of security breaches that have been observed during these off-peak times including kidnapping, pickpocketing, street robbery, etc.

I also ensure I communicate my movements at all times with my partner without having to be at any unusual place without at least detailing my transactions at every point. This would help salvage unlikely situations that may come up and give room for quicker intervention.

And lastly, I probably have to say something when I see something. I need to be vigilant about my environment and report any strange movements around my environment. I believe this should be one of the ways I should be obligated to my government. If everyone does this, it makes their work a lot easier to handle, I mean the security forces.

I have heard about an issue around my environment though close to my place of residence at this time. Just as I have said earlier, there is likely a higher occurrence of insecurity of this nature when the day is dusk. On this day sometime around 8 pm WAT, some dare-devil-looking guys stormed my street in a Toyota Siena salon and were shooting voraciously into the air. They already had their prey in view and were chasing him as he drove faster, he was shot dead at this time since he was trying to speed off and escape from their trail.

The second person who happens to be within the same reach was apprehended. At this time nobody knows if he was a victim of circumstances or was on the list of trailed persons. He was apprehended alive at least no life was lost here unlike the first victim. Another chase was seen done according to an eyewitness. He was chased and the young man drove into a ditch, left his car there, and absconded. He was able to escape freely but we have to be careful about keeping late at night. He was only a victim of being at the right place at the wrong time.

One of the ways to keep the home secure is to ensure there is a robust communication synergy among all its inhabitants. Everyone communicates clearly on their whereabouts especially when they leave home and when they come back home.

Secondly, placing some digital cameras (CCTV) would do a great deal to monitor the home and know when there is an intruder or bugler. Though expensive, it is nice to have within our home for an effective and secure home. It gives an additional layer of security which helps track crimes before they occur or record them after carried out for possible measures.

On this side of the region, we are known to use fences to secure the main building. This is an act that helps guide the home around it with an entrance to it by virtue of a gate. This is to help limit any unforeseen entrance into the home but rather help narrow all thoroughfare through a gate entrance. With this, it also gives an additional security layer to the home.

Lastly, we have what we use that is called a window protector. These protectors are of iron and difficult to break through. They are installed on all windows of the house which makes it difficult for anyone to make breakthroughs. They are also relatively a secure way of guarding the house when the entrance doors are shut
