The phrase "everyone is a winner" all depends on the context it's being used and the perspective of the person using it.
In some other situation, this phrase could mean, everyone gains something. We could be in a competition and my main aim could be to gain the experience, for someone else, it could be to have fun, and for another, it could be to get the actual prize of coming first.

At the end of the day, we can't all be coming out as the first but we definitely could achieve what matters to us and that alone, makes us all winners.

Everyone being a winner on STEEMIT is only appropriate. It only emphasize the idea that the sky is actually wide enough for everyone to fly.

STEEMIT is a big platform which has different aspects so everyone can definitely be a winner by actively participating in the different areas.

Winning is fun, but winning together is so much fun.
The idea of everyone winning on STEEMIT is also fair as long as everyone put in the required efforts needed to win in whatever they look forward to.

With the idea of everyone making the first place in any contest no matter what is written, this would demotivate most users from putting the necessary work and consistency needed to standout.
This would also bring about, many mediocre content which would lower the standard of the platform.

Knowing the first place is given to just one person with an exceptional content, this motivates users to strive for that position, thereby, improving the quality of their content daily.

In the aspect of coming out as first, second, or third, everyone cannot take those positions. No matter the number of people that participate in a contest, there's always one person who is identified as the winner.

This though, does not mean the rest are losers, no. You might not win by coming first in a contest but you win in many other ways. Either in getting the experience or the correction you needed which could help you some other time.
You might not come out as the first but you might get booming votes or supports which also counts as winning.

There are so many kind contents that could be created on STEEMIT to identify as a winner.
I would love to create content that's centered on guides to doing several things, easy guides specifically. With this, fellow steemians could learn how to things they never knew and they could even teach others.

In order to standout, this contents will of course, be original, follow the community guidelines and rules and also aim to just to teach but also to promote the community's growth.

Finally, though everyone cannot come out being the first with the prize, everyone can definitely win.
