Greetings to you all. It's beautiful to engage in this interesting topic "Giving and how it should be done"
What Is Your Definition Of "Giving"
Giving is a broad term which has many definition depending on the angle of ones view.
Personally, I will say that giving means, extending something of value to someone without being compelled to. It is the act of sharing the little you have out of compassion and love.
What Should Be The Right Motive Behind Giving?
First of all giving should be done because Christ commands us to do so in the scripture (2 Corinthians 9: 6-8) however, when we give we shouldn't behave like the hypocrites.
Giving should be done out of necessity, with love and wholeheartedly rather than the praises the society will shower us with. Also, giving shouldn't be a form of creating "goodwill" for ourselves rather, it should be a way of increasing our treasures in heaven.
The right Motive Behind giving should be to motivate the receiver that truly life is worth living and also encouraging the person to do same (touch lifes) when need arise, in other to make the society and the world at large a better place.
Do You Believe In Giving and Publicizing The Act. I.e Sharing On Social Media?
Publicizing the act of giving is something I've always kicked against right from when I grew to know myself.
You should ask yourself, what picture of this person am I trying to potray by sharing on social media? are you posting to receive accolades or are you posting to ensure the receiver remains indebted to you, because obviously posting it on social media indicates that the excerpts will stand the taste of time and you can always dig it up at any time to make reference and make the society feel you are the reason for the person involved living.
Mention Some Of The Ways You Feel The Act Of Giving Should Not Be Done
Some of the ways I think the act of giving should not be done are:
• Giving should not be done only when you have in abundance.
• It shouldn't be done because you expect men to honour you.
• Giving should not be done to make the receiver feel indebted.
Conclusion
Giving is a seed we sow for the future, the only third party that should be involved when giving is God. You should give and await God blessings as the greatest reward comes from God.

You have taken time to explain what giving is. I agree totally with you that giving should not be done under conpulsion, else it will be giving under duress.
I also agree that giving entails handing out something of Value. If it is not valuable, then it is not a gift.

People have different reasons for giving but definitely, giving without the mindset of receiving same back should be everyone's thoughts before giving to people.
I just love the one you said people should give not until they have in abundance. Kudos my friend.
