Growing up in a Rural or Urban Area
Differentiate between urban and rural areas stating three major features |
---|
Urban and rural areas differ greatly infact they are complete opposites. Urban areas refer to the regions of high colonization with more developed and improve infrastructure and services meanwhile the rural region tend to be less developed and less populated but with more natural products and purer air.
Population: The urban areas tend to be more populated that most rural areas. This is because people dwelling in the rural regions migrate to the town and cities in search of employment opportunities, better health care services, better standards of living etc. Due to this, the urban regions are always more populated compared to the rural areas.
Infrastructure: This is a major difference between the two areas though the rural areas are currently upgrading but in comparison to the urban regions they falter. There are more developed and complex infrastructures, buildings, health facilities and equipments in the urban regions.
Food Substances: The food substances in the rural areas are more natural and healthier because of the agricultural practices and farming carried out there. So people there get their food directly from the farmers but in the urban regions, whole salesman purchase these products and then sell it off to retailers. To ensure these products last through all the chains of distribution before reaching the consumers, preservatives containing unhealthy chemicals are used.
Which area did you grow up and why? |
---|
I grew up in an urban area this is because my parents moved out of their hometown and decided to dwell there.
Also, my dad's occupation played a big part in this decision. His occupation required him moving around from time to time and he didn't want us on the road with him because it could be dangerous.
So, he built a house in Benue State that seemed conducive at that time for all of us and often visited whenever his job permits.
If you were told to go to the area you didn't grow up from, will you? |

This reminds me of an incident from when I was very little. We were going to the village for an important marriage ceremony. Having been informed of this, I was extremely excited. After all, we were going to the village and would get to see grandma and grandpa. Also, I could eat a lot of egusi cake.
Hearing that was fun and a big motivation so of course I parked my bags when I was asked to. Did all that was needed so no threat of living me behind would come through. To think I thought they could!
It was going to be my first time visiting the village so normally I was excited and of course curious but not until we got there. The moment we arrived, I still don't know exactly why I reacted that way but then, I told my dad that I had seen the village and so let's head back.
I didn't want to get into the house. Even when my grandma took my bag in, I ran after her and dragged it back to the car. My dad had to scold and spank for the first time ever.
Anytime, I recall that incident, it always brings smiles to my face. It was one unique memory. But now, I would love to visit the village more.
What things are there in the area you grew up from that aren't in the other? |
---|
My house, my school and church, I guess. Those are the things that would really make a difference to me between either the place I lived or the village, I visited.
My house, school and church are the places I constantly spent time in. We didn't go out much in my house but we rarely missed service or skiped school.
Thank you very much for taking time to read through and thank you also to the organisers of this contest.
Hi @uduak01, I enjoyed your post, which is very detailed in terms of the comparisons of rural and urban life, as well as your experience.
It is very true that there are many advantages with living in urban areas, but in terms of what we consume, it is better to live in the rural area, the food is healthier.
All my life I have lived in the capital, but I am fascinated by rural life and if I have the opportunity to buy a house, I will do it.
I hope you can return to your grandparents' home and enjoy your stay, I'm sure you will.
Regards.
You are right my friend. Urban Area is always more populated and busier because people tend to migrate more to the city in search of better life. You were born in urban area, and even though your father traveled a lot, he made sure you guys were well taking. I hope you will return the favor if not already. Thank you for inviting me.
Hello dear, I wish to you to be in peace and living their best moments of life.Three major differences between rural areas and urban areas which make them very different are education, greenery and population. Whenever we talk about both the areas, these three points come to our mind.
