WALLNUT

The Nigerian walnuts with the botanical name (Tetracarpidium Conophoram) contains an important oilseed crop that is grown in tropical Sederhana regions of the world.

It has a long history of cultivation of food as a plant species in West Africa. Capsule bearing larva are green when growing, sometimes greenish yellowish when ripe. The leaves are about 53 inches wide and about 3 inches long by rotating.

Walnuts are round in shape with dark brown shells and whitish nuts, encased within the shell. In the western part of Nigeria, it is called ‘’ASALA’’ while in the southern part it is called ‘’UKPA’’. ‘’EKOM’’ as the Ibibio’s call it has a lot of health and medicinal importance.

  1. Good for the Heart: walnut lowers the risk of heart disease as it contains amino and 1 arginine which helps in cell division, healing of wounds, immune system function and the release of hormones. There is also the presence of oxidants that help relegate and retain heart related issues.

  2. Weight Loss: To shed off excess body weight, belly flat and reduce body cholesterol, the African walnut is good for you. It contains vitamin B7 which is essential for key metabolic processes, contains fibres and proteins which also help to check weight gain. However, you must regulate your intake since walnuts are quite high in calories.

  1. Improves Brain Function: Wallnut fruits are good source of vitamin B6, which helps the human brain to function properly and improes cognitive ability. The healthy fats and pyricdoxine in African walnuts are key facilitators to improving cognitive function.

  2. Diabetes and Cancer: This fruit helps to control excess weight thereby reducing the risk of high blood sugar and diabetes. It has also played a role in reducing prostate and breast cancer in humans.

  3. Boots Immune System: With the high antioxidant and iron content of African walnut, you are sure to wardoff infections, anaemia and even eye related problems by just consuming a serving of this nut daily.

Walnut is really powerful and have so much health benefits that we can ever imagine of. In fact I can't imagine our world without walnut. A lot of people always look down on the importance of walnut
