Steem4Nigeria Community Application for Steemit Engagement Challenge - Season 19

Introduction

Our noble community, the Steem4nigeria community is delighted to find the update through the Steemitblog publication about the opening of applications for season 19 of the engagement challenge on the platform. We believe this is another opportunity to prove our competence as we hosted great contests with satisfactory expectations in previous seasons and we are ready once again as a community to make an application for the engagement challenge season 19.

Hence, this application is to brief us in detail on our expectations vis-a-vis as they relate to the organizers of this engagement challenge.

Steem4Nigeria's Purpose

Our purpose as a community in #steem4nigeria is the same as found in our previous applications which shows a long-standing positive status in which we believe. The Steemit platform has continued to allow participants and users in the system to learn and earn with growing demands to be independent given to the arrays of initiatives and projects it develops over time. Most importantly, our dear community was created at a time when no country community portrays the image of the official standing of the Nigerian community in the platform but rather individual communities created by Nigerians.

There was an absolute need to attend for newbies who daily find their way into the platform as well as existing users who needed a national front and community to call their own. This was solely created to give Nigerians an official home on Steemit with the propensity to support users at various levels.

Therefore, it is a home for everyone on the platform and most importantly for Nigerians in Steemit irrespective of their locations across the globe. Over time, since its creation, we have reached out to foreign friends on the same accord.

The History of our Community

As a community, we do hold history in high esteem and are proud to talk about it when needs arise. History was made sometime in February 2022 when the creation of this noble community was nursed and hence came into reality. #Steem4nigeria was created on the 12th day of February 2022 and the first community introduction post was also done on the 15th of February 2022. Right from its inception of the community creation, the day-to-day activities of this community have been controlled by the founding member(s), who also were doubling as the community moderators.

After a two-month running of the community activities, the community launched a moderator recruitment application on the 11th of April 2022 that saw the onboarding of two moderators and then it was upgraded to five. This did not remove the active role played by the admins/founders in their continued support to keep the community stable.

Over time, in a bid to continue with the Steam required to fire up the community from all cylinders, the administrators at that time decided to overhaul the moderator list and hence an application was launched on the 21st of February 2023 which was about a year later of community creation. Then, the community onboarded 8 moderators with a mix of new MODs and returning MODs which was pruned down to 6 Moderators presently.

The vigor to strengthen our MOD base would be a concern for us to achieve the desired goal at all times. Therefore, our eagle eyes are on the beam to correct and implement those policies that would be community-driven while bearing in mind the requisite support to all concerned.

With an active list of community management, we are ready to respond to all articles published in the community seamlessly without concerns. The capacity has already been tested and deployed before this application was made as articles are checked daily for all criteria required by both community standards and by the Steemit team.

Community's Curation Account

The community was created with a corresponding curation account which serves as its official account, hence @steem4nigeria. @steem4nigeria has remained the community's main curation account with delegations from all members.

The community account has a total of 22,439.05 effective SP at the time of making this publication while also being an active #club100 participant. Below are other stats of this reviewed community account.

As at the time of publishing this article, we have 13 delegators. We hope to grow this value through a concerted effort from all active members of the community for effective curation support.

At present, our posting key to our curation account is shared with the MODs for reviewing and curation. More so, @xkool24 (Admin) and @ruthjoe (Lead Moderator) have the entire community account keys.

This is to strengthen a ground status of consensus before transactions are initiated in the community. The community has been poised to be a non-profit one with a sense of long-term achievement and support drive for all.

Policy of Checking Articles

In our noble community #Steem4Nigeria, there are some key parameters designated as a priority for checking articles published in the community. This brings about a seamless review of published articles in the community with readers and curators. These are some of the used parameters in the community;

Verified User: This is one of the parameters that tops our list. Users are checked for their achievement tasks to ensure they have been verified. This is also indicated by labeling users for easy and subsequent review.

Steem Exclusive: Moderators endeavor to check that published articles have not been shared with any other platform before they are published in the community. In doing so, we are guaranteed #steemexclusive articles in the community.

Plagiarism-Free: Published articles are checked for plagiarism and a dedicated tool is used for this purpose.

Club Status: The minimum allowed user participation in the community is #club5050 and user adherence is achieved by turning down defaulters. Articles are checked using the appropriate tools.

Bot Free: Users are also checked for this and concerns of vote buying are taken into consideration for users' accounts to guarantee community review. Only clean articles are considered for support in the community.

burnsteem25: Users who support this project are also hyped during the review for possible support by the team. This can be verified by checking users' vote payout beneficiary parameters.

AI Content Generation: We endeavor that this parameter is enforced to discourage users from subverting the PoB which is the hallmark of the Steemit platform. Some tools are already in use to check this in the community.

How the Community Helps to Improve Users' Quality

Our first line of target is the newbies who are usually half-baked in adhering to the rules of engagement. We intend to guide them through a dedicated moderator who comes across users in this category. It is an agreed and collective effort to ensure they are directed for effectiveness and efficiency to encourage them. We have our available community groups to handle concerns of this category.

The community in its wisdom created and pinned some guides on allowable practices in Steemit on its community blog, through some of our admins/moderators' publications. They are to guide all users in the community irrespective of their status for efficiency and effectiveness.

In ensuring quality is maintained, the community has maintained some level of contest that allows users to make publications void of plagiarism. Some of these contest series are diary game reports, reporting events around us, and other hosted trainings by our MOD. Users are guided on what to train from mostly general topics.

Lastly, we have a robust WhatsApp training center group for all members to be trained and retrained for better blogging experience. Ideas are shared and refresher trainings are carried out on weekends to boost training morals and blogging experience. This also serve as another hub to mentor community members.

Why Steem4nigeria Community Should be Chosen

We are a prepared community and at the same have taken into cognizance some parameters that make us more suitable in this 19th season of the engagement challenge.

• The community has continued to sustain a minimum required number of at least 100 active posters in the community and hence the engagement challenge would be a booster therein.

• The community hosts an active team of MODS and Admin that are readily available to handle reviews and curation activities within the shortest possible time. Time of publications left has been reduced to at most 12 hours in the community.

• The community is already experienced in handling the engagement challenge after being part of the challenge thrice before now. Those moments were handled diligently and with utmost effectiveness; hence, this present season would be a great fit for the community to consolidate its proficiency.

• We are all poised to ensure community growth and such quality publications would be made to promote engagements in the upcoming contest if given the opportunity. A good number of topics have been earmarked for this engagement if selected.

Conclusion

We would be glad if allowed to participate as a community in the forthcoming season 18 of the engagement challenge. We pledge to be consistent with the guidelines and requirements of the organizers as this would also help us contribute meaningfully to the Steemit ecosystem.
