RE: Announcement: Applications Invited for Moderator Role

in Steem4Nigeria3 years ago

Thank you, Steemit team for this observation. Our just concluded application for the roles of the MODs in the community brought about a fair selection process with those changes.

It became worrisome over time the way and trend the community was heading given the docile nature of the MODs.

Rather than indulge in activities that would benefit the entire community, this was skewed and rather assumed to be a personal affair.

Some of the envisaged lapses:

  1. Contests are posted without due diligence and approval from the admins.

  2. Reviews are skewed where only those that participated in their contests are reviewed. Leaving other community entries unattended.

  3. Some reviewed articles were still plagued with plagiarism and in violation of the club's status. We can't afford to lose our booming support and Steemit's confidence in this regard.

  4. No MOD attend a contest hosted by the community account, rather they are only interested in their content.

  5. One would wonder why the community can no longer apply for the steemit engagement challenge. These are the issues.

Being a MOD in a community is not automatic, and we expect everyone's willingness to be part of the team through an application.

One of the names mentioned above #ubongudofot did not apply thus indicating no interest in handling that responsibility. However, we felt this will help him to even concentrate more on his project in @smilenigeria which he runs.

@goodybest was not selected after several considerations this time. She is also open to applying next time and she can be selected as well.

Not being selected for MOD work does not strip anyone of them their status as a Country Rep and their contributions to the community which are so much valued. The community values all her CRs and would be ready to support them in any capacity to meet their obligation in the platform. And we mean this.

There is a need for others to grow and learn in Nigeria, so giving them such opportunities helps them appreciate the platform more, helping to reduce cases of plagiarism and some other misconducts that are not acceptable within the platform.

Therefore, we do not intend to segregate our CRs by this selection process but with the sole intention of overhauling the entire community for growth potential.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.

We do consider it important that active Country Reps are involved in the management of Country Communities - especially for those receiving @booming support.

Your community has also seen a number of power downs amongst former members of the Steem4Nigeria management team.

For example. your current Admin @benton3 has powered down more than once and cashed out 10x more than he has powered up over the past year.

This is not the sort of community management model we are looking for.

We equally appreciate your response. Having said that, @benton3 was mentioned in this context regarding his power-down histories, we believe that was initiated based on very important reasons which must have gone beyond his power and that doesn't mean the community account is going to experience the same.

We have highlighted a few times that Steem4Nigeria is a non-profit community which makes it safe for all and free from any irregularities whatsoever. As much as we would love to include notable users in the affairs of the community yet it won't be automatic, past efforts toward the development of the community remain requisite and adequate caution is taken to avoid bringing any rug-pulled project facilitator(s) closer to the healthy community. There is more to what the Steemit team has paid attention to.

@ubongudofot is one of the CRs in Nigeria but has not been helpful in any capacity in our dear community. From the day of onboarding till the time he was removed as the mod. We can not continue to have inactive mods because of steemit status while the community suffers.

Secondly, his continued promotion of smilenigeria in the community with flagrant abuse of the community rules of engagement is unnecessary. The management and alleged illicit handling of that project are what we won't want to be extended to the steem4nigeria community and hence do not find him fit to join the crew for now. His contributions are accepted to the growth of the community until we find confidence in user to join us closer thereafter.

All we want is a clean environment for Nigerians on Steem for organic growth, employing capable hands without jeopardizing genuine user interaction and activities on the platform.

For @goodybest, no doubt, she was one of the best mods before now but derailed. Review of Publications shouldn't be personalized and on individual contest alone. This was a disturbing trend that almost corrupted other mods. We cannot segregate and that should be stopped.

Secondly, she has a new born which kept her away from the community and hence inactive.
However, if she is ready to carry out that work effectively, the community has decided to onboard and give a waiver to her since she at least made an application for this same role but couldn't be listed.

It does not seem good to us that we are being threatened of withdrawing the booming support just because of these two user unless there is more to it. While we still recognize your prerogative over certain issues, but let them be tailored to the continued existence of everyone at stake.

All our country reps are welcomed to the community and their inputs are highly valued.
This stance is to reiterate our commitment to support the steemit team in whichever capacity but at the same time does not set a precedence we can not keep.

Steem4nigeria is a community for all Nigerians and all are welcomed irrespective of their status on the platform. We are committed to being in the platform now and in the foreseeable future.

Many thanks

Interesting @Steem4nigeria though waiting for the reply of my previous questions, I have more questions with regards to this response you just made.

So goodybest was one of the best Mods before now but derailed? Why did she?

Was she the only one that derailed in reviewing other publications in the community?

Do any of the Admin contacted her before, and asked the reason?

How about the Admins, Are they not derailing? Are they not aware that their inactivity affect others Nigerians, even when almost all of them powered down their accounts and left the platform?

Have goodbest ever asked the admins about the affairs of the community, or even complain about certain issues she found in the community? Do the admins ever respond to her?

Have the Admins ever taken the suggestions of their MODs?

Do they normally include her in their decisions?

Even when they wanted to make this particular decision did the admin contact her as the MOD who have applied?

Well, Nigerians is wondering why the Admin is so attached to this community account, to the extent that even when almost all the members of Admin powered down 👇 they still don't want to step down from the position, they are still managing the community from behind to a point of selecting someone that is more inactive than goodybest (as busy as she is as you claim) to be co-admin. Please Are the Admin having any ulterior motives? I'm just curious! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Just wondering why the two Nigeria Country Reps are no longer on the Steem4Nigeria community team?

Hello @steem4nigeria, @steemcurator01 was asking a simple and straight forward question, why goodybest and ubongudofot are no longer in the team? can you give a straight forward answer? Or are you in anyway referring this to us?👇
