Hello to everyone in this beloveth community know as Steem4Nigeria I believe we are all in good health today. I welcome you all to a start of a new week and to also the beginning of an engagement contest today.
As demanded by the engagement rules of this community, I will be providing answers to certain question that has been set in conjunction with a topic tagged election in my country.
So I beckon on you to sit tight and I wish you happy reading.
THE GOVERNANCE TYPE OF RULING IN MY COUNTRY
In Nigeria, the governance type is said to be a democratic governance structure whereby it is done in a particular way which everyone comes out to vote a leader of their choice and at the end of the day, the candidate that emerge victorious will be given the mandate of leadership to rule.
The type of governance in my country is a democratic one in which the citizens have freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom of religion, freedom of vote and many more.
Also in democracy, power is being exercised by a particular body called the government. They have the executive strength and power in which also them can decide what is going to happen in the country. There are other forms of body that also have a righr of power such as the law makers, the house of representives, and also the house of assembly.
So with democracy, power is been shared among various body, and hence everyone has a role to play in the various respected bodies, so the president elect can only say a decree but it is left to the body to buy the idea and work with it because as earlier mentioned we have freedom of speech in democracy.
With the democratic form of governance in Nigeria, It has helped a lot in maintaining peace and progress, promoting individual suggestions, and facilitating all hands on deck.
just like the Steem4Nigeria community that has just recruited some coordinators from different zone to sparehead the affairs of steemians in their respective zones in other to make the work better and also for the growth and betterment of this platform and that is what we call division of labour in democracy.
So power is been bestowed to certain individuals to take care of certain affairs in the country in other to better the country and place it in good shape and this is exactly the point of a democratic governance. So it is very effective in running the affairs of the country.
THE ELECTION METHODS EMPLOYED IN MY COUNTRY
In Nigeria, basically have two main methods of election and it is done as seen below.
- Primary election method - The power election is the first electoral method before one can emerge.
It is the type of election whereby two or more people in a particular party wants to opt-in for the position of the president seat, and then an election will be conducted between the various persons in the party in other to select the one with the highest voters.
In this type of election, only respected persons such as the delegates are expected to vote in the primary election. No one outside the forum of the party will vote but the delegates themselves.
- The secondary election (General election) - This is tha main face of the election. After the primary election is done and a candidate is being delegated from different parties, they now come out to the public in other to be voted for by their people.
Yes I do. It is a democratic governance and as an adult, I need to partake in the exercise in other for my vote to be counted and also to vote for the right person for the job, so I regularly participate in the exercise and the above is my voter's card to show that I am a patriotic citizen.
MY EXPERIENCE IN PARTICIPATING IN ONE
I was among those who voted in the previous elections that was about 3 and a half years ago. I went to my accredited zone of registration and I casted my vote.
Although the processes were okay but it was time consuming because the queue was so long and the sun was hard on us all, but it was worth it as we got to see many people coming from both far and near to cast their votes and also vote for the person of their choice.
Well for me, the process was fair because it was tedious and on a sunny day, there were no provisions for shade and the queue was so long to the point that some people left without casting their vote.
So adequate measures are to be put in place or better still, they should make it more better to ensure that citizens do not find the process tedious hence some voters will change their mind from voting.
MY SUGGESTION OF A METHOD IN ELECTING LEADERS TO POWER
I do not have a contrary suggestion to the existing methods in electing leaders to power as a matter of fact, the existing method is better.
Coming out in person to cast your vote is good as such we will know that the people voting are all real individuals with accredited voters card and with their passport captured on it.
But what I have to say is that, there should be a better way through this method. A method of biometrics will help to save time and relief citizens of the stress that they have to wait on a queue until it is their turn to cast their vote, for with biometrics, the work will be faster.
WOULD YOU PREFER OTHER FORMS OF GOVERNANCE THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE I ALREADY HAVE AND WHY?
No thanks, I wouldn't prefer a different forms of governance from the one Nigeria already have because democratic governance is the best type of ruling method so far and I like it in the sense that, we all have freedom of votes, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of democratic party, freedom of dress sense and so on.
So there are enough and the democratic governance is far better for me whereby power is being distributed to various individuals for the betterment of the country and it citizens.

You have written quite well about the governance employed in Nigeria at the moment. Seeing your PVC (Permanent Voters Card) in that selfie shows how much you value being involved in the election process, not many youths have that piece.
Your suggestion about biometrics could actually be a great addition to making elections better in Nigeria as a country you have centered your discussion on.
That said, you stated that you are convenient with the democratic form of governance in Nigeria, it's actually the best provided the leaders elected are trustworthy and are willing to serve the nation.
You know sometimes, we feel like there could be another governance type because of how things became worsen under certain governments. I was discussing dictatorship with someone in my flat today, we highlighted how much some people want this because they are tired but the harm in it is numerous, people would hardly have any freedom if such happens.

Yes sir I agree with you on that, it is clearly seen that most of the leaders only aspire for the seat to feed their on nest and careless about the people who put them there and it is sad. We hope for better leaders in our respectful countries.

Thanks for this post,elections in our country is sometimes corrupt but I hope that in the future things might be better.
Yes,you just choose a nice choice by ingnoring other forms of governance because we are all free to do things the way it should be.
Exactly, the democratic form of governance is great because with it citizens have right to vote and there are freedoms but in a case of dictatorship, the only scenario where we can see a change in government or the power holder is when the person sitting on the throne either dies or overthrown by another.
So even though things are not moving as they ought to, we are happy to be ruled by a democratic governance. Thank you for your comment.

A method of biometrics would really be a wonderful method for voting and I think It is really good idea. I also prefer democratic government than any other government because In this government, Citizen have right to express their feelings.

Hello friend, reading your entry, i saw that you mentioned the queue was quite long. That's good actually , since it shows that the citizens in your country were so determined to exercise their franchise via voting. The democratic system is actually good, at least from my point of view, and it is the governance system used in my country. As such, just like you said, i too wouldn't change the governance system in my country.
One thing I will really love to change in the election in Nigeria is the high level of corruption in the primary election of different primaries
In India also we having same process.
Yes,Agree with you. In India all elections alredy following this method by using EVM Machines.
Thats why we getting results with in short period. But those are costly process.

El sistema de gobierno democrático ofrece la posibilidad a los ciudadanos de formar parte de las decisiones más importantes del gobierno, además de ser garantes de la libertad de expresión y el libre desenvolvimiento de la personalidad.
Me parece un sistema similar al venezolano, en el que los partidos políticos realizan elecciones primarias para elegir a su candidato y luego presentarlos ante la contienda nacional.
