My Neighborhood Watch #33 - Reporting Events Around us

Whenever I see kids playing and jubiliating among themselves, I do feel excited watching them. Seeing how innocent they are and the kind of carefree life they live. Sometimes, I get lost deep in my thoughts remembering when I was once a kid, how my parents will buy anything I demand when I fall sick, how they will take me and siblings outings and buy us new clothes and shoes, and how I receive gifts or money from strangers just because they like you… the benefits were countless before adulthood came to scam us!!

Now as an adult, who will dash you money just like that all the time without expecting something in return?? Or is it your parents that will leave other important things to start thinking of one overgrown adult in their home?
As an adult, if you don’t work, you won’t eat!!

Over to the business of the day!!

Today with the kids was fun. I am an operative in chokmah day school in Port-Harcourt. Their school inter house sports is coming pretty fast and they have been training the whole week to represent their various houses on the inter house sports day. Their performance on the training have really been mind blowing. Some stuff they do at their age, I don’t think I was able to do it at that same age! That was when I noticed “wonder kid”.

You need to see this kids speaking like white kids, you will love to bring your children here. Like the saying goes, “all work and know play, makes jack a dull boy”. The school decided to give the kids some relaxation time at the pool this Friday. For the first time, I saw the kids coordinating themselves because they want to swim. They didn’t care much about the bouncing castle, trampoline or swing that was brought along side the pool. They all wanted to swim.

It wasn’t easy handling the kids. In fact, two of the teachers had to enter inside the pool to carry them outside because they refused to leave, so other students can use it. It was my “wonder kid” turn to leave the pool. You need to see the drama he acted before they could hijack him away from the pool. He had no idea that Nigeria female teachers are strong. I just knew his own time was going to be dramatic. The kid is so funny and i really like him.

He cried so much and was begging the teachers that he wants to enter the pool but this time they didn’t pay attention to him. But something happened that surprised me about my wonder kid. He listens to his proprietor. I was so surprised that he can be this humble. With other teachers, he won’t pay any single attention, he sees them as his playmates. But when the school proprietor told him to come immediately with a straight face… you know those face that says “I don’t take shit”, he listened. I was surprised he came without any drama.

The proprietor now begged him that next time, he will swim in a bigger pool and that he should go and take his bath. That was how wonder kid, respectfully went to take his bath, no more crying or drama or making teachers running after him everywhere 😂😂

Well, that’s it about neighborhood today with my kids this week.
