Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC)| S12W6- "My country; My Home."
Home, sweet home, who doesn't know this quotation? Each one of us has or comes from a place that brings back good memories, this is where we call home. Our home is always kept in our hearts as an ideal one, even if it is not so flawless, serving as our fortress and place of rest. It is on this note that I write, about my country, my home.
Tell us about your Home (country), a brief history, will be an added advantage |
---|
I hail from the Country Nigeria, it has been my home since childhood till this very moment. Nigeria is nicknamed the giant of Africa.
Nigeria's history is one of complexity, diversity, and resilience as it is home to over 100+ cultures and 500+ languages with the majority being the Hausas, Yorubas, and the Igbos.
Nigeria is rich and diverse in history dating way back to pre-colonial times. Known for its development in agriculture, ironworks, and sculpting, leaving behind an impressive architectural legacy.
Nigeria gained independence from the British colonial master in the year 1960, but political tensions continued, leading to a civil war (The Biafran War, from 1967-1970). At the end of the Biafran war, Nigeria went into military rule under the military regime until 1999 when civilian rule was revived.
Recently, Nigeria has faced various challenges, ranging from insecurity, political instability, and corruption, to economic struggles. Despite all these challenges, Nigeria remains strong as a nation with cultural, social, and political importance in Africa and around the world.
Why do you think your country is unique? Share at least 3 points. |

There are a lot of fascinating things about my country ranging from sports, history, entertainment, politics, and culture, that if I want to write, my keyboard will fail. However, I've been asked to share just 3 among the numerous to mention, and here are the three things that make Nigeria unique to me.
Unity in Diversity
Nigeria as a nation is one of the world's most ethnically diverse countries, having over 250 distinct ethnic groups and over 500 languages spoken across the nation, contributing to the country's rich cultural heritage and making it a beautiful destination for tourists.
It's Natural Resources
Nigeria is a nation richly blessed with several natural resources. Nigeria is one of the world's major producers of crude oil, including many other mineral resources, such as coal, tin, limestone, iron ore, gold, etc. These resources play a big role in the economy of the country and the world at large.
Rich Heritage
Nigeria is known to have the largest population in Africa, hence, this large population gives it a notable impact in Africa and also helps form Nigeria's cultural and political sense of things.
Nigeria is home not just to me, but also to a multitude of others including notable personalities in several fields, from musicians, writers, and athletes, to other celebrities.
In conclusion, Nigeria is indeed unique for its vibrant culture with diverse ethnic groups, tasty cuisine, and rich history. A Nation full of beautiful landscapes, warm hospitality, and talented individuals.
Would you leave your country to settle in another if an opportunity shows up? Back up your answer with reasons. |
---|
No nation in this world doesn't face one challenge or the other, but as a Nigerian, I am proud of our rich cultural heritage, our resilience in the face of challenges, and the achievements of its talented individuals.
I pledge to Nigeria, my country. To be faithful, loyal, and honest. To serve Nigeria with all my strengths, and uphold our unity.... So help me God.
My favorite portion of the national pledge, Nigeria is my country, my home, and my refuge, I go nowhere. No matter where you are, home is where the heart is.
What areas of your home (country) would you love to see an improvement? |
---|
As a Nigerian, there are certain areas I wish or hope to see improvements. The areas that require improvements include the infrastructural sector, the education sector, and healthcare services, as these improvements will help improve the quality of life for Nigerian citizens.
I wish to invite @anasuleidy, @ninapenda, @ruthjoe, @drhira and @suboohi

Thank you, I just noticed.
Appreciated 👍
Beautiful entry Sir @sahmie !!
Yeah we're indeed a great people blessed with a rich heritage, natural resources and unity in diversity...
Obviously we still retain our nickname The Giant of Africa despite all our challenges which won't be permanent.
This phrase really got Me showing how patriotic you are and hoping for the best in Nigeria....
I also pray we get improvement in the above-mentioned areas because they are the basic and major parts ...
Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge
The funny part is, your own is your home unless you want to take all your lineage out. As long as you are in a foreign land, it will never be as good as home. You can travel, but trust your end point is always back home.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback and time.
Friend, excellent participation, to be honest, the first time I have read and learned about Nigeria, through your publication I definitely confirm that you are a country of fighting men and women, resilient and admirable... Wow, I didn't know they had so much cultural diversity and so many languages within the same country.
God will allow you to be faithful to your home and to always live in your beautiful country.
Thanks for the invitation and success always.
