This is a tricky one, but lemme try my simple understanding.

Love is simply be affectionate about someone or something and having the good of that person or thing at heart. You always want what or who you love to be comfortable and happy.

Whereas, Obsession is the want to spend time excessively with who or what they love, such that they think excessively about and engage in behaviors that put not just them, but also their love in danger. They become unstable and suspicious of everything their loved one's do or is doing. Which is not love anymore.
