INTRODUCTION

“It is better to be late than late” is similar to the aged adage, Better late than never. At some point of time in our life, everyone might have come across circumstances, where we might have believed that we should have achieved more or started a certain task much earlier and we regret not having accomplished that or done so.

But I tell you today that, there is a silver lining in it as well. We might be right in demonstrating disappointment towards ourselves for being careless in our approach. The good is that we have realised our fault is what offsets our loss. Nonetheless, it is never too late to start something worth doing than being desperate and sad. You never can tell, if success may have shunned you then for a reason, and it is staring at you now. So it is never too late to be late!

Bro, it is never too late. Many people think within themselves that time has already passed by them and it is too late to do anything, so it is either they get what they want now or never, thus, leading to loss of life in certain cases.

However, unless you give yourself the benefit of doubt, and try to do something good, how could you confirm that the same is worth losing your life for? It is not crucial when you achieve the set goals, nor that if you start now you would finish last. A strong example would be the hare and the tortoise. It is the belief and intentions that counts and not the time which may retain a limited stance if one takes up something with much vigour and devotion.

Individuals often feel that they are way behind their peers, which is not supposed to be so. No two people have the same fate or blessings, after all even the world doesn't run in the same time zones for all countries. With the desire to get everything they want, they lack the patience to work toward building a good image for themselves.

When speaking to people, most of them would say ‘It is not their cup of Tea!’. Thus, forgetting that Successful people are those who possess the courage to go ahead, despite all the obstacles and hurdles.

Using myself as an example, I've always put in the hard work both in life and in academics. But, at all points, life seems to be moving against me, but I didn't give in to circumstances cause I believe my moments are coming.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” - George Eliot

These words from George Eliot came to me at my lowest moment when I felt left behind by my peers, it made me believe it is never too late for me to achieve all that I have put down to achieve. This in a way calmed my nerves and curtailed my fears for the future. Thus, giving me the ability of Contentment which is above all fear.

I wasn’t certain I believed the message but I needed to, it sounded nice. It seemed like a message from a world where good things happen to good people and everyone is given a fair chance to make up for the past.

These words came to me at the right time when the state of the nation presently is filled with fraudsters, scams and Ponzi. I understand it's better late than to be late, so took it upon myself to go the lane. Right now, I can say with pride that it's worth it as I grow bigger every day not minding what my peer has or is getting. I am growing from working to earn a monthly salary of 16,000 naira (89 steems) to having much better pay, which can only get better. At the same time, I am being allowed to go back to school to study my desired course while still getting paid my monthly allowance, so you tell me isn't it better late than to be late?

CONCLUSION

We have to understand that, there are no scheduled times for anything to achieve everything, but that you love to do what is worth doing. When you feel that you have been left behind by your peers, then just ask yourself what are you not doing right or is what they are doing to get to that level right? In the end, you should pat yourself for at least trying to do what you believed worthwhile. As much as time and tide wait for no man, and give your best shot and be positive, no matter how delayed it is, it is you who determines your fate and your destiny and not the people you compare yourself with.

Wow, quite inspiring. This piece really lights me up.

no matter how delayed it is, it is you who determines your fate and your destiny and not the people you compare yourself with.

This is true. No two people share this destiny. Therefore, no need for competition or comparison.
