What is the name of your country? How many languages can be found in your country?

The name of my country is Nigeria. It is a Country located in West Africa. It is regarded as the largest Country in Africa. My Country Nigeria is dominated by different tribes and ethnic groups and each of them speak a unique dialect. Nigeria have over 250 ethnic groups and over 500 spoken language.

It has three major ethic groups which are Igbo, they speak Igbo, Hausa they speak Hausa and Yoruba which speaks Yoruba. Some of the other ethnic groups are ibibio, Tivi, Fulani, Ijaw e.t.c. The lingua Franca is English Language.

Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with?

The only language I'm familiar with and speaks fluently is Igbo and English Language. English is our Lingua Franca here in Nigeria. If you can't speak English here in Nigeria is like your blind because you won't be able to communicate with people from other tribes.

I'm from Anambra State an Igbo speaking state and I also grew up there, so I can speak Igbo language which is my mother tongue fluently. I can also utter a few words in French from Secondary school.

How has this language improved/helped your life and business?

Being able to speak English language has really helped me to communicate and interact with people from different walks of life.

Being able to speak my native language Igbo, makes me to have a sense of belonging in my Community, it makes me feel like a true daughter of the soil. It also helps me to understand my culture better.

They was a time I visited Uyo in Akwaibom State, I went to buy something from somewhere and the seller sold the commodity for me at a cheaper rate because he noticed that I spoke Igbo to him.

Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/No. State your reason.

Of course I'm going to teach my children these Language and even more. This will help them to communicate and interact with people from different walks of life. It will also make them to have an edge above others, thereby creating employment opportunities for them.

Thanks for reading through, I invite @knaus and @akofem to participate in this contest.

It's great that you're fluent in both English and Igbo. Being bilingual like you gives you a wonderful advantage in Nigeria. English being the Lingua Franca helps you communicate with people from different tribes, fostering understanding and connection. And speaking Igbo, your mother tongue, not only strengthens your sense of belonging in your community but also deepens your understanding of your culture. It's fantastic that your ability to speak Igbo even benefited you during your visit to Uyo, where the seller gave you a discount because you spoke the language. Passing on these languages to your children will indeed open up more opportunities for them and help them connect with people from various backgrounds. It's a beautiful way to preserve your heritage and empower them for the future.

Thanks for your review.
