As humans, sometimes we feel so many emotions it can be quite overwhelming and confusing. Especially when we do not know how to handle them. Emotions like anger or jealousy can bring out the worst in people when handled improperly. While other likes joy and happiness can bring out the best in people. And that is why sometimes people recommend for individuals to do whatever makes them happy. Make a conscious effort to be happy always.

WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY EMOTIONS?

Emotions, I believe are those feelings that affect human behaviors, alters thier judgment and perception about lives. They include feelings like; pain, anger, sadness, joy, sorrow etc. Some of these emotions occurs for a short brief moment like embarrassment or anger. While some of them are long lasting and could eventually become a part of an individual's personality. They include emotions like resentment, love, etc.

Emotion is an important aspect of human personality. It is the foundation from which an individual acts. It is what we feel that we process into thoughts and subsequently, our thoughts turns into action. Sometimes we may experience a wide range of emotions at once depending on the circumstances your in at that moment. Knowing how to process our emotions and handle them is quite important to avoid us doing things we will later regret in life.

Well there was a time I lost myself due to my insecurities. I felt insecure about myself for so many reasons. I lacked confidence in my self. I felt as if I wasnt good enough. I depreciated and looked down on myself, and that caused me to become a shell of the person I once was. I became more reserved, shy even. Refusing to talk to any one and preferred staying alone. With time, loneliness and depression started creeping in. I had people around me yet I felt so alone inside. I became so depressed untill I met a very good friend who helped pulled me out of it.

EXPLAIN FIVE WAYS TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONS

Some emotions like fear can be quite sneaky, hiding under other emotions. While some can be very explosive. Coming out with full force. It is therefore very important to know how to deal with different kind of emotions as they arise within us.

Some practical ways we can control and manage our emotions includes;.

  • IDENTIFYING THE EMOTION: Sometimes we may feel so many things at once that we just want to explode. At that moment, take time to ide tidy what your feeling the strongest. Is it disappointment or fear. These emotions has the tendency to hide under others. You may feel both frustrated, angry or irritated when if you'll look deep down it's just disappointment. When you've identified the emotion, you put a name on it. It helps to vocalize it. When you realize your angry saying it out makes the emotion less intense.

  • REFRAIN FROM SUPRESSING OR IGNORING YOUR EMOTIONS
    This is one thing many people fall victim from. Wjen we have negative emotions we do not want to feel or remember, we try to suppress them. That is very unhealthy for our emotional health. Ignoring or surpessing your emotions. Makes it worse. You become like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode. Just one tiny trigger may come your way and you've exploded. Allow yourself to feel the emotions. From there you can walk through it. It is better than avoiding them

  • DO NOT ACT ON YOUR EMOTIONS:.
    At that point our emotions are triggered by probably what someone said or did at that time. It is advisable not to jump on our emotions. Create a time between the moment or trigger and emotional response. This will allow us some space to see reasoning and act logically. At that point, you can either try taking a deep breath or anything at all that will calm you down

  • ACCEPT YOUR EMOTIONS
    The first step to be in tune with yourself is to accept whatever you feeling inside. Do not try to judge your emotions or deny it. If its jealousy you're feeling, accept that you are jealous. Don't try to deny it to yourself or feel guilty for feeling jealous. Afterall we are all humans and no one can be perfect. It is our emotions that makes us human. Dis regarding how you feel can have some dangerous effect on our emotional health.

  • BE CONSCIOUS AND MINDFUL OF WHAT WE SAY OR DO DURING INTENSE EMOTIONAL MOMEMTS
    When we have successfully, identified and labelled the different types of emotions we feel at that specidic time and identified the root cause of feeling that way. The next thing we do is to keep calm and mute. Don't talk impulsively on that emotion. Depending on the situation and given circumstances we should try to look past what we feel at that moment and act logically and responsibly.

DO YOU THINK EMOTIONS COULD HINDER SOMEONE FROM ACHIEVING THIER DREAMS

Emotions if unhandled or poorly managed could deprive an individual from so many things. Remember I said our emotions affect the way we think and act. When an individual is unable to handle his/her emotions especially in a so ial gathering or public setting it will destroy such persons image or character. Take for instance, someone makes you angry in a public setting and because of that you begin to make a scene and start fighting causing a commotion. People who witness you fighting that way would have a bad opinion about you. That can limit you from gaining any favour from someone.

Also when we feel negative emotions that draws us back, it makes us lack motivation to go about our goals and dreams. Some people who dont know how to handle setbacks will end up not achieving thier dreams and aspiratins in life

Thanks for the invite dear. Expressing the way we feel is just one of the wiring of man. Few hours ago, I was completely down because of something that happened here at work but some folks came to encourage me and then my countenance brightened up once again. It just human to express ourselves but all with care and caution...wish you the very best.

Is a good thing you are writing in this contest, you really wrote well, your post is really amazing and insteresting truly, that for sharing your thoughts with us, emotions can be negative or positive response. At that point our emotions are triggered by probably what someone said or did at that time. It is advisable not to jump on our emotions I like how you said this.
