Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 63: The lies I grew up believing.
Cover by the organisers of the contest
Hi friends warm greetings from this part of the world, I'm so delighted to welcome 🤗 you all to this week's steem4nigeria accelerator contest week 63 which comes with the theme "The lies I grew up believing"
What were the lies you believed while growing up? |
---|
Hhahahahahahaha, this is very funny oo, just came across the contest and immediately I smiled because I remember how ignorant and confused I was back then when I was young.
As a kid my parents told me a lot of lies which of course to them it was to protect me from doing some certain things that wasn't good or that was disturbing.
The number one lies I believed while growing up was, my parents told me not to talk at night so that ghost 👻 won't call me out in the middle of the night.
The second lies, was that I shouldn't eat eggs that it was only meant for my elders another was that I shouldn't bend and look in-between my legs so that I wouldn't see a ghost 👻.
What was your reaction after finding out the truth as an adult? |
---|
Remember while starting this article first I'd laughed because it was very hilarious 😂 finding out that all those minor things I took very seriously as at that time was just a mear manipulation of my mind by my parents.
When I'd realised that all that was just a lie like I'd mentioned earlier all I did was smile because that's part of life and indeed it taught me a lesson, even now I can easily trick them as well because after all this is the 21st century.
Do you subscribe to telling lies to young minds in a bid to protect them or you choose to call a spade a spade? |
---|
I wouldn't call that subscribe because it is absolutely normal to try and confused a child with some minor lies just to protect them from themselves, kids are always very stubborn and would always like to try out every single thing that comes their way and it is our duty as adults to protect them even if it involves telling them some minor lies.
Telling lies to kids isn't bad at all though it depends on the type of lies we tell and as long as it doesn't involve hating someone else.
This will be all for my entry today and I will like to invite@avalanch, @samuelnkenta & @ahsansharif
Your lies are popular I can remember they told me same thing, and I was seriously adhering to them. Even when I realized it was just lies I couldn't get my mind off them hahahaha.childern of these days are wise and stubborn just as you said but telling them the truth will help.

Many lies were told to us. Believe me, those things I believed and followed as a child, non of my children can believe those lies. Children of nowadays are very sharp and brilliant, they'll want to try it out. Imagine, telling my son not to do something, that same thing you just warn him he'll go back to it immediately you turn your face away in just a minute.
It's better telling them the truth than them finding out by themselves.
Yes indeed I agree with you totally
Our parents told us numerous lies, for our own benefit, as well to keep us safe. Therefore, I believe that this was beneficial to our childhood rather than harmful.
Yes it was
