INTRODUCTION

Hello there amazing Nigerian steemians how are you all doing and most importantly how are you all coping with the fuel scarcity I hope you all are having a nice and wonderful day.

Today I will be taking part in the official community debate contest with the theme "Do you think Age Gap is a Problem in a relationship"

So in my today's entry I will be sharing with you all my own understanding of the word "Age Gap" it's problems and how it affects a relationship and so much more so just sit 🪑 back read and enjoy.

WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY THE WORD "AGE GAP" AND WHEN CAN WE SAY THERE IS ONE IN A RELATIONSHIP

The understanding of the word Age Gap is very simple because just like the name inscribed, it refers to age distance that exists between two or more people.

In other words Age Gap in a relationship setting can be further explain as the process whereby the age number of one person outruns the other partners age for example a girl of 20 years marrying a 50 year old man or a 25 years old man marrying a 35 years old woman which automatically you can see that there's something wrong with such union.

And we can say that there is one in a relationship is when just like I'd explain earlier is when the man or woman is to old or too young for each of their partners.

DO YOU THINK AGE GAP IS A PROBLEM IN A RELATIONSHIP?

In most cases I sincerely think that age gap is indeed a problem in most relationships because it may lead to a certain degree of proudness whereby one may think that he or she is the eldest and his or her partner should be treating them with respect.

So indeed age gap is truly a problem in MOST relationships in our society today and it is one of the main reason why most people breakup or get a divorce in most relationships today.

DOES THE AGE GAP REALLY HAVE A WAY OF AFFECTING RELATIONSHIPS? EXPLAIN AND GIVE SOME EXAMPLES

Yes, just like I have said earlier age gap has it's own special way of affecting a relationship in ways beyond imagination, because we all know that sometimes love can get hotter than water and at that point it could turn a king to a slave.

But when it's temperature cools down a little there you will see the true colour of your partner and there the demand for respect will increase, mostly in a process whereby the woman in a relationship is the eldest at some point she will start behaving strange and if a little misunderstanding pops up she will want to remind her husband that she is the eldest and sometimes she will even insult her husband all because of age gap and differences.

On the other hand where the man is the eldest though this one is normal but when the age gap is too much some of the disadvantages that comes with it is that the Man will think that he is supreme and sometimes won't even care about listening to what his partner will have to say thinking that she is young and doesn't understand life.

And we had one in our community where the wife was a little older than her husband at the same time richer than her husband, so anytime there's a small disagreement between them hmmm, you will see how this woman will be abusing and insulting her husband and sometimes on Sunday when there will be going to church she will take the children in her can meanwhile her husband will have to trek or pay public transport.

IS THERE ANY AGE YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH? IF YOUR PARTNER HAS SUCH A GAP ABOVE YOU,

Yes absolutely as a guy that I am I therefore do not want in any way the age of my partner to be older than me meanwhile there is this wise saying that said "Girls marry a guy that is older than you so that when the both of you are old he will loose his sight to see that you have lost your beauty"

Which is indeed the truth so for me I want my partner to be at least 4 years younger than me and I think that's normal for a healthy relationship.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE NORMAL AGE GAP IN A RELATIONSHIP?

Now there is no such thing as absolutely facts or truth since facts and truth are something being agreed on. So therefore there is no such thing as a normal age gap in a relationship because it's true when there say that we can do crazy things for LOVE.

So when it comes to a normal age gap in a relationship it all depends on what we want for ourselves meanwhile for me I think I would prefer a guy to be at least minimum of 1 and maximum of 5 years older than his wife to stabilise and balance the mutual respect as well as love.

CONCLUSION

So base on differences in ideologies age gap can be a problem in a relationship at the same time it can also be a reason for more love in a relationship but it all depends on what we want for ourselves and our relationships.
