I love the game of football because it was one of the sporting activities I was properly exposed to as a boy growing up. My love for football made me active in most football related activities ranging from playing, watching to playing of football games. It equally made become an addicted supporter of the English premier league.

I want to share with us a simple lesson I learnt from the finals between Chelsea and Liverpool which was played on Sunday. The match between this two team was a very tough match. The two teams gave their best in the both half, but their best was not sufficient to give any of them the day. The match had to go to extra time which was not enough to decide who wins the game. The match actually produced goals which was disapproved by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). The match was finally decided by penalty which ended in favor of Liverpool.

My lesson came from Chelsea's end, earlier this season Chelsea played the UEFA super Cup final with Villarreal and towards the end of the match, Chelsea's Coach replaced goalkeeper Mendy with Kepa. The substitution yielded fruits because the substituted goalkeeper stopped some penalty from the opposing side which made Chelsea claim the Cup.

Mendy

Chelsea's Coach wanted to do the same thing against Liverpool, he replaced goalkeeper Mendy with Kepa again for the later to repeat the same fit he did in the super Cup final, but this time around the formula turns out to work against the world Champion. The goalkeeper that was brought in to stop the penalties could not stop any of the penalty kick. Instead of stopping penalty He now became the only player that missed a penalty kick.

My lesson is simply that one formula may not always work all the time, it's only in mathematics that formula works all the time, but in the equations of life it is not always like that, what works for you today may not work for you tomorrow.

Thanks for your time.
