The Use Makeup and Cosmetics.

I was a bit confused about what to write today so I decided to go to disconnect where contests are posted and I found this interesting contest today. I do not have much to write about it since I'm a man but will do my best to present my little ideas on it.

What is a makeup?, is there any makeup item or procedure that is a part of your culture or tradition? What aspect of your makeup is borrowed from another culture.

Makeup in my understanding is what we put on to give us a different look either a beautiful look or an ugly look. I don't want to focus on one side and that is why I have stated this.

Many people mistake makeup for only making you look beautiful and that is not true, in movies as we watch we can see that people are makeup for a particular scene.

In my tradition, the only makeup I know about in my culture is that ladies wear a bit around their legs and most times they use it to dance and it sounds nice as they dance with it. During traditional affairs, you see ladies and men wearing these bits.

The aspect I believe was borrowed is the modern make-up which women now paint their faces. Traditional, they don't do that but now they do it to look more beautiful and presentable.

Are there makeup for specific events and dress, please explain.

Yes, there is makeup for special events like marriage and others. Anything that has to do with traditional affairs has its specific makeup that makes the people present their selves the people of the culture.

You see this majorly in traditional marriages, new yam festival celebrations, or Masquerades' Day celebrations. These are special events that are respected very well in my culture and they are celebrated.

Do both men and women use makeup/cosmetics? Who uses more?

Yes, both men and women use makeup but women use it the more. You know that women are specially created to take care of their selves and look very presentable hence they always put in more effort to ensure they are always making up.

In going to events and many other things you see women taking hours to get their selves prepared for the event always. Men may not probably have much time for all of that.

Are you ok if your spouse makes use of a makeup? And what is your definition of a light, heavy or extreme makeup.

I'm not against makeup but I don't like heavy makeup. You know we have light and heavy makeup and light makeup is makeup that is done on the face to change the person's total appearance which most times we may not recognize again.

Light make up on the other hand is a type of make-up that is done just a little on our faces and that makes you look good and your real appearance is still maintained.

Are you aware that some people appreciate makeup on other people but would restrict their spouse from using it? What would you say is the problem with such?

The problem here may be that their makeup looks good on others and doesn't look good on their spouse. Everyone likes good things hence good things are always appreciated. Maybe instead of the makeup to make their spouse look beautiful it makes them ugly.

This is the reason I believe that most people don't allow makeup on their spouse instead they appreciate it on others. In this situation, if you are doing heavy makeup, you should try to do light one and if you are doing light you should go for heavy.

Do you view a tattoo as a part of makeup? Give reasons for your answer. What else would you like to say about Makeup and Cosmetics.

Yes, I view tattoos as a part of makeup. This makeup is a lasting one is it is designed for your body and takes time to be removed from your body. So some person wishes to have all these designs on their body parts and then they go ahead to have them. Some look quite beautiful though.
