Happy new month Friends.It is the first Saturday and we decided to embark on sanitation, with focus on clearing the spaces in between the interlocking stones. ## What are interlocking stones ## These are small slabs made of concrete or cement typically used in the construction of decks, driveways, walkways, and patios. Interlocking concrete paving ensures vitality and stability of the construction of a pavement or surroundings. It helps to prevent flooding, erosion and washing away of the soil. Also prevent grasses from growing around the house thereby giving room for weeding, cutting or spraying. Most buildings have interlocking stones around the house and this helps in making the compound neat and beautiful as colours are added to the stones. Materials used in making interlocking stones are: 1. Cement 2. Sand 3. Water 4. Colours : for aesthetic purpose. Gives the stones different colours; thereby adding beauty to the stones. 5. Dry mix of gravel.

Steps to making interlocking

The ingredients are mixed together by adding very little water to it. The mixture is then moved on conveyor belts or sometime a crude instrument created by the mason and then emptied into the pavers mold/pan. Pressure is applied to the mixture in the mold and the mold is vibrated. Pressure and vibrations cause the water to set which helps in binding the aggregates together. Further, the mold is removes and perfectly finished mold are obtained.

But after a period,the spaces between the stones opens and grasses springs out and needs picking out. These process is a bit tedious as can't used the natural tools and sprays are expensive.
Another problem is due to the season, grasses comes out very fast and needs care.

2. Knives etc
   After picking the grasses/ flowers, sweep and pack it out to restore beauty.
