It has been a while year. I have missed it here and had looked forward to coming back. Any reason why our gadget spoils just when we need them the most??? We will never know. Over the holidays, my state which is Akwa Ibom organized a festive program tagged "Ibom Unplugged". It was a mix of culture, variety, beauty, pomp and pleasure. Everyday witness because performances from different local government areas. Ibom Christmas unplugged included a Christmas village with street, Christmas carol, Local government displays, meet and greet etc. # Culture # Every local government area was saddled with the task of displaying their cultural heritage, showcasing their uniqueness in attire, foods, dance, heritage etc. And each local government had a day in December to them selves. This was done in alphabetical order and from 9am to 4pm daily.

Itu Local government

Itu Local government is a local government in the city of Akwa Ibom state of Nigeria. It is surrounded by water and very fertile lands for farming. The people of Itu are mostly fishermen and farmers as the local government is richly blessed.

Itu is located in the South South of Nigeria. It is bounded in the North and North-East by Odukpani in Cross River State and Arochukwu in Abia State, in the West by Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas, in the South and southeast by Uyo and Uruan Local Government Areas.
Itu is made of the following villages : Oku, Obot Etim, Mbiabo, Ema Itam, Ikot Annie, Ekit Itam, Obong Itam,
Ekiri Itam, Mbak Atai, Ikot Ayan, Ekim itam, Ikot Andem Itam, Ikot Akpan etc, about 52 villagers in all.

ITU CULTURE

The people of Itu are very rich in traditions and culture and so the Christmas unplugged afforded them the opportunity to display their rich heritage.
Some of the things displayed were Ekpo, Ekong, Ikwoud, Ekpe, Ubom ison etc. This was very colourful and entertaining as the women tell their stories through songs and dance. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
