Cassava originated from brazil, south west america.It is a root tuber and a latex producing plants.
BOTANICAL NAME: Manihot app.
VARIETIES
BITTER CASSAVA: Manihot utilissima.
SWEET CASSAVA: Manihot palanata.

LAND PREPARATION
This land is cleared, stumped, ploughed, harrowed &ridged . Cassava can also be planted on heaps.
CLIMATE PREPARATION
- TEMPERATURE: 21°©-35°©.
- RAINFALL: 150cm-200cm/1500mm-2000mm.
- SOIL REQUIREMENTS- well drained Sandy loamy - cassava can also grow on poor soil.
METHOD OF PROPAGATION
Stem cutting - Make a stem cutting of 25cm-30cm long.
- Planting date: March to September.
- Planting distance=1m×1m.
CULTURAL PRACTICE
- Weeding.
- Fertilizer application.
- Control of pest and diseases.
- Supplying.
