"The Level of Absence of Rights in my Country"

Every country has its fundamental right and every citizen is having the independence to exercise those rights, there are some basic civic actions or deeds that are allowed by law to be individual rights. Sometimes, there are some situations where the right of the individual are deprived, just like you must be among to get cut. It is either you belong to the cadre of the rich to get some privileges, being to the same religion or clan, etc. This fact deprived people of enjoying certain rights by merit.

The level of human rights in Nigeria is highly placed and allows those rights to be enjoyed by all citizens.

Nigeria inclusive has fundamental human rights noted for every citizen. Those Human rights include rights right to life, freedom of expression, equality before the law, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education the right to work, social security, and education. These rights are innate to all human persons, irrespective of race, sex, ethnicity, language, religion, nationality, or any other status.

There are courts of law that advocate whenever human rights are violated, citizens, therefore have the right to appeal whenever their right is abused. Even though there are some factors like cultural or local standing order of movement restriction, upon all that, human rights are always maintained and not pressed.

Yes! I am currently enjoying my fundamental human rights. I have the freedom of Movement as a citizen, the right to religion, the right to vote, and to be voted for, the right to life, etc and all these rights are enjoyable by every Nigerian citizen.

Someone may not be able to understand those rights if he or she won't know the fundamental human right, but being a patriotic citizen of my country, I know my right and I exercise them where necessary, I belong to a political party, I have my freedom to life and movement, I also have right to be in any religion.

I know there are some basic rights that some individuals may feel they are deprived of exercising such as freedom of speech among others. But I know my limit of exercising my right, I don't bridge my right or act against the law while exercising my right so therefore I don't feel deprived or limited from enjoying my right as a Nigerian. For every privilege, there must be exceptions, I know my right and their limits. Citizen should know their rights and exceptions to that same rights.

I have a direct experience where I was deprived of owning a landed property in northern Nigeria because of my religion, the population in that region is dominated by the Muslim religion, so the community leaders refuse to lease the land properties my mother left before she died.

I took the case to the court and they rule the case to my favor with a standing order that if anything happens to me, the community head will be held responsible. After winning the case in court, I receive several threats from some individuals that they are going to kill me. I letter decide to sell the land and look for another in another location.

I felt so bad about my right to own a landed property in a location of my choice in my own country and felt a difference in religious sentiment, which is one of Nigeria's problems. in as much as laws are there to protect human rights, we don't help ourselves uphold these rights.

Factors that deprive a citizen of their right as mentioned above is something that should be handled, when there is equity, there is an equal right. The poor are always on the receiving earn of deprived rights, but the rich always use their wealth and influence to get everything at a flip of ginger. This is not only applicable in Nigeria, I am sure even some parts of the world are facing the same challenge.
