The place of skill in today's Economy

We are in a country where the economy is bitting hard. Every Average Nigerian right now is angry. In fact, I'd say frustrated. The only beautiful thing that is keeping every nigerian going is that little light of hope that our system will get betterbetter someday. That light, is what we're all holding on to.

It is our comfort, our assurance, our solace. The day that light goes off, we'll become a people without hope.

In reality, one of the things that we can hinge our hopes on as Nigerians is our Skills. A skilful Nigerian is half way better than an unskilled Nigerian. Primarily because apart from being able to make ends meet from your skill, you can also transfer your aggression there. Technically, yes.

Take it like this, two Nigerians waking up to news of price increments in food commodities, increase in fuel price electricity tariff, transportation, etc. One is a skilled Nigerian. Maybe a tiller, the other an unskilled nigerian.

The skilled Nigerian can transfer the hurt, pains and frustrations into perfecting his skills, delivery more satisfactory services, etc because for him, he is reminded that, that skill is what will keep him surviving.

The unskilled however, absorbs all the negativity that comes with the news. The aggression is not transferred on anything(be it a skill or a business)What is most likely to happen is that he'd make a ruin of himself. And you know what they say about not letting your pain out.

Getting skilled is an advantage. It's taking two steps ahead. It is about right preparations, finding measures to survived the hard biting economy as well as staying busy and productive.

Also, it's important to note that skills can be anything. They don't necessarily have to revolve around hair dressing, wig making, tailoring, etc. Skills can be digital. Writing is a skill, data computing and analysis is a skill, e-marketting is a skill. I can go on and on.

There are too many things we can lay our hands and brains on. There are a lot of problems we can slove while waiting for things to get fixed in our country.
Get a skill, learn something new, keep your mind busy and productive. No matter how bad the system gets, there are always a billion people ready to pay for your skill, whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
