Surrogacy. How Do people view it ? And the Implications.

in Steem4Nigeria2 years ago

It's another wonderful and interesting topic to write about. This is not just to keep busy but very educative when it comes to the issue of childlessness. I appreciate the organizer @okere-blessing of this great contest and I would like my friends @josepha, @ruthjoe and @blespaul12 to have knowledge about surrogacy and equally give their opinions.

Without delay, this will take us straight to the deal of the day which is just below:

EXPLAIN IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE THE MEANING OF SURROGACY.

Surrogacy can be seen as the inability of couples to give birth. Or a woman who has challenges in child bearing.

This means is usually carried via gestation, were the child is been carried by someone else and not the biological parent. Therefore in surrogacy, the biological parents contribute eggs or any other generics elements to the baby. Note, the operation is been carried by the doctor who'd source for the sperm. This is the donor sperm (biological father) and this sperm can be gotten through ejaculation too.

However, we can say that surrogate are people who accept in offering helps in bearing children for another parents.

Types of Surrogacy

below are the two types of surrogacy

  1. Traditional Surrogacy
  2. Gestational Surrogacy

I will explain the types of surrogacy in details below:

Traditional Surrogacy

In traditional surrogacy, the surrogates eggs are been used in the process. This is done traditionally, however, we can say that it doesn't requires an external help because the person who carries the pregnancy is linked to the pregnancy. The whole process is by getting the donor sperm and insert it into the surrogate.

Gestational Surrogacy

Here, nothing about the surrogate is related to the pregnancy. The eggs and sperm are gotten from the biological parents as well as combine and inserted into the woman (surrogate).

IS THERE ANY IMPLICATIONS HAVING A CHILD THROUGH SURROGACY ?

The only thing I see that can contradict this process of having a child is where the woman (surrogate) is a married woman. When she do it without the consent of her husband, it can lead to divorce, and a lot more. Before such can take place, if you are a married woman, you must have the permission of your husband and it's advisable that your husband become part of the agreement of that contract.

Another point of given birth, is between life and death. The surrogate can loss her life in the process, so it's a risky game.

WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ABOUT SURROGACY?

I viewed surrogacy as a contract relationship between the parents, baby and the surrogate. Since the child sleeps in another woman's womb, therefore, there is a relationship between the child and the surrogate as well as the parents.

HOW IS IT VIEWED IN YOUR COUNTRY ?

In my country Nigeria, surrogacy has been in existence for years now, and it's more accepted, compared to adoption of children.

DO YOU RECOMMEND SURROGACY TO COUPLES WHO ARE CHALLENGED IN HAVING BABIES?

Since it is accepted by law, I'm recommending that families who finds it difficult in having a child, should go for surrogacy as an option for child bearing.

In conclusion, if any family finds it difficult in giving birth to children, I recommend that the both parties see's the doctor. When the kidney fights the organ (the womb), here the baby is not safe. And this is one of the major reasons why surrogacy is considered the most.

The embryo should be tested by the doctor for health and wellness before it can be inserted into the woman (surrogate) who will carry the baby. Note, the parents pays the surrogate for carrying out this task.

Thank you very much for your time.

Cool.
Very detailed.

Thank you

If I should grow up to find out that I was contracted to a third-party as a surrogate, I would develop some attachment to the surrogate and my loyalty would be divided between my birthday mother and my egg mother. Confused who is my biological mother. I would not have been easy for me. Thank you, @justiceanietie for participating in this contest organized by @okere-blessing in the Steem4Nigeria community. We have accessed your article and we present the result of the assessment below.

You have written so well about the topic. Like you said, when it is done without the consent of one party to a marriage, then there will be problems. But when both parties are involved, it goes well.

But I will like to add that the child should not be made to find out who the surrogate mother is, else, the love of the child will be shifted. It is just natural. Thank you for sharing

You are welcome
