Online security is one of the important topic in todays digital age, and it can be related to the concept of a normal key lock in several ways, Below are few points to discuss.
PASSWORD Just like a normal key lock requires a physical key to unlock and lock, online security relies on passwords to protect our digital or online accounts. It is important to use strong and unique passwords for each online account and also avoid using easily guessable information like your birthdays or names or mobile numbers or any meaningful words, a strong password comprises of alphanumeric and special characters. In additional enabling two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security.
SECURED CONNECTIONS. When using the internet, it is crucial to ensure that the connection is secure, especially when one transmit sensitive information. Using secure protocols like HTTPS and avoiding public Wi-Fi networks will help protect you against unauthorised access.
ENCRYPTIONS. In the physical world, a key lock provides security by preventing unauthorized access in your home. Similarly, encryption is used in online security to protect sensitive information during transmission. Encryption algorithms job is to convert data into an unreadable format, ensuring that even if intercepted, the information remains secure and safe. I still remember when my TUTOR @manuelhooks taught us of "column cipher, Caesar cipher, transposition cipher and book cipher/book coding" as a means of manual encryption, the topic really widen my knowledge on how words are being encrypted in the computer.
SOFTWARE UPDATE. Just as a keylock may become less secure over time due to wear and tear, softwares and operating systems can have
weaknesses or flaws that hackers can penetrate. Regularly updating your softwares, including antivirus programs and operating systems do helps to patch these vulnerabilities and also maintain a higher level of online security in your computer.
- PHISHING ATTACKS. In the digital world, attackers always use misleading tactics to trick individuals so as to revealing their personal information. This is similar when someone pretend to be a trusted person to just to gain access to your a locked door.
NOTE: It is crucial to be prudent of suspicious emails and messages, or websites that may attempt to steal your login details or other sensitive data.
