Broken Trust 😢😢.jpg

Introduction

No matter how independent we are, every now and then we do need to depend on someone for one reason or another. When this happens, sometimes we already have someone in mind, which is a good thing, other times, we get heartache, remembering the last time we trusted someone and how that went down.

What do you think the word trust means?

To me trust is a very delicate thing. Though it can also be used in business level, I first and foremost think about it on a personal level.

Trust I think is the ability to be vulnerable with a person, at the same time feeling safe.

Trust is about making guess or having an expectation from someone and them living up to that expectations.

Trust is about being yourself around someone with no fear of being judge by them.

And as a delicate thing, when once it has been broken, it unfortunately might not return 😢.

Presently in your country, do the citizens feel safe to trust one another? If not why? And if yes why?

Honestly, the answer is no, people don’t trust people anymore, at least not complete and total strangers.
Someone might be more open to trusting an associate or an acquaintance than someone they just met claiming share one or two things (like religion or ethnicity).

The reason for this is the fact that there are a whole lot of people out there who are actively looking for ways to exploit people.

Sometimes people walk into a place and claim to be what they are not or claim to offer what they cannot offer and after getting people to trust them or rely on them, that trust will be shattered when they used such opportunity (the trust) for their personal and selfish interest.

Due to all these unscrupulous elements, it now makes it hard for people to rely on each other or trust another person.

Have you had any experience where your trust in someone was broken? Or such a scenario from a Friend?

Kind of, not explicitly. I tend to trust people how I see them. That means if I’ve never carried out a transaction of N1,000,000 with you before, I won’t trust you such amount. I limit the trust to our area of interaction, though if you’ve proven yourself to be trusted in that area, I might give you the benefit of doubt but not necessarily trust.

So yes, in a few occasions I might have felt disappointed by people, but not really in a broken trust way.

Can you suggest ways to mend broken trust?

Mending trust, I think starts with realizing what you did wrong and then trying to make corrections for the better; and also try not to repeat the same mistake, twice.

The main point to note is that you are trying to do good, not to impress the person you offended as that might be eye service.

As for actual trust, that will be left for the person after they see the effort and you put in and are convince of the intentions, not just for them to trust you back hurriedly.

Conclusion

The world is hard enough as it is, so everyone should have at least that one friend they trust and feel comfortable with. And as much as we are looking for such friends, we should also remember to be such friends.

We should not only try to get people’s trust, but we should try to match actions, worthy of those trust.

I invite you @alli001 @crystal247 @kidi40 @bossj23 to participate in this great contest.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on trust, a topic that resonates deeply with many of us. Your perspective on trust as a delicate and personal matter is quite relatable. Trust indeed involves vulnerability, expectation, and the ability to be oneself without fear of judgment.

It's disheartening to hear that trust among citizens in your country is dwindling. The prevalence of individuals seeking to exploit others for personal gain undoubtedly erodes trust in society. It's understandable that people are more cautious and selective about who they place their trust in, especially with strangers.

Your approach to trust, based on observing individuals' actions within specific contexts, is pragmatic. Trust, indeed, is earned gradually through consistent actions that demonstrate reliability and integrity. While disappointments may occur, the key lies in acknowledging mistakes, making amends, and striving to rebuild trust over time.

Your call for everyone to strive to be trustworthy friends while seeking trustworthy companions is both insightful and heartening. Building and maintaining trust is indeed a two-way street that requires sincerity, consistency, and genuine effort.

Thank you for participating in this engaging contest and sharing your valuable insights on trust. Your contribution adds depth to the ongoing conversation about trust and its significance in relationships and society. Looking forward to more thought-provoking discussions from you in the future! 😄👍

Greetings dear friend,

Thank you very much for presenting us with a beautiful post.

Yes bro as you don't have the mentality of breaking faith, it seems that it will be easy for you to know people who believe, if we don't have the flow of faith naturally then we don't have to face so much problem, as you mentioned, without giving large amount of money to anyone. Good, but there is one thing Faith is faith whether it is one inch or 10 inches, good to read your post, good luck to you,
