It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @crismenia and @joymm to participate in the contest.

A special thanks to @xkool24 for hosting the 50th week contest.

Greetings!! Friends of Steemit and Steem4Nigeria.

On last Saturday a cyclone was developed in the Bay of Bengal. The name of the cyclone was Remal like Yaas devastated our costal area just three years ago on the same day of expected landfall.

Nodal Authority-World Meteorological Organization (WMO) comprising Indian Ocean Region-Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand contribute to naming cyclones that occur in this region. The name of cyclone has been given by Oman, in Arbi Remal means sand.

Railways took all kind of precautions to combat the disaster. They even arranged a 140 ton capacity crane for operation. In case of waterlogging in tracks they arranged pumps and motors to evacuate the water instantly. Diesel engine was kept ready for interruption of electric locomotive.

It was raining next two days non stop. The cyclone landed on Sunday midnight at Khepupara in the district of Bagerhat of Bangladesh and crossed Dhaka to northeast of Indian state of Mizoram.

The costal area was flattened due to the aftermath of cyclone. Many thatched house was abolished and thousands of people become homeless and took shelter in the rescue centre.

The storm with surges have uprooted many trees both costal area and city. The wind speed was 100-120 kph at the time of land fall. Due the heavy rain part of the city was waterlogged. There were no public transport available in the city.

On Sunday morning there were very few people found in the market. Most of the people were house bound for whole day. In the morning I visited the local main arterial road which was totally desolated.
