My Neighborhood Watch #43 - Reporting Events Around us

It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @crismenia and @joymm to participate in the contest.

As Bangal new year is on next Sunday, people used to buy new clothes as well as house hold items. There was a three days long Loknath Exhibition cum Sales held at the AC hall of Arya Samiti Charitable Trust. It was fun and joy with varity of stalls of garments, jwellery, cosmetics and sanks & fast foods. The items were so so but costly. Most of the exhibitors came from nearby arra.

During this time of the year many people take vow of living the life of Sanyasi wearing saffron colour clothes and beg food from household. They remain in fasting till they get food. At end of the month they complete their vow. On that auspicious day Gajan a ritual of Bengalis is celebrated at many places with lot of magic and gymnastics they used to perform. It considered as sacrificial act to satisfy lord Shiva. The day is called Chaitra Sankranti. That is last day of the year.

In the meantime there was another Sitala Puja held at Behala Club Ground. I didn't find any person in Puja mandap. There were no purohit also. I also noticed Sitala Mata is accompanied with two more idols. On the right side of Sitala there was idol of Trinath (Brahma, Bishnu and Maheshwar) with three heads. On the left Side of Mata Sitala there was an idol of lady.

On the same ground Karate training was held where boys and girls of all ages have participated. As the club is very reputed the trainers must be good.

Other day I noticed small green mangos cultivation in a home of my locality. If they consume part of it now without waiting for mango to ripe, they may have better quality ripe mango. The green mango with spice like red chilli powder, salt and sugar (optional) was very favourite in our childhood summer holidays.
