My Neighborhood Watch #34 - Reporting Events Around us

It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @yakspeace @paholags to participate the contest.

Yesterday morning after finishing my incomplete post and morning routine I went out to watch the neighborhood.

The city of Kolkata have lots of heritage building and memorials. The urbanization started here dates back to 1800 by East India Company. So many building are deliapated needs renovation and repair. Some of the old building are replaced by new multi storied building. In our locality also many flats are build on land of old buildings. I visited one such building yesterday. The building was two storied. It is a hundred years old building. The building is now owned by four persons of present generation. One part of the building was given on rent for marriage or other social functions. But due to heavy taxes they have given the house to a pollution treatment office for last ten years. Another part used by the owner for residential purpose. In middle another ower given his land land to the promoter for construction of multi storied building and the fourth owner renovated his house. It is a interesting story of preserving part of the heritage building and replacing the part of the building completely with new building. I took some photos to illustrate the situation.

The city is changing very rapidly. Here is another property converted into an air conditioned market about twenty five year ago. At that time the ownership price per square feet was ₹10000 (475 Steem).

The local church was build in a portion of the Biren Roy trust property and opposite to church there is very old building of Roy families which is also expected to be replaced by new construction.
