I'm delighted to be here in this community and participate as well in this contest, thanks to admin and moderators of this community for initiating contest like this to keep us busy and also broaden our knowledge about the need to use renewable energy.

OBTAINING A SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

INTRODUCTION

Human wellbeing is closely linked to the healthy environment, some avoidable environmental factor contribute to small percentage of death in the world today. Human needs clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink, to live in places that are free of toxic substances and hazards to health, finally to build a thriving community and ensure future growth potential, inorder to have these we need to reverse the effect of exponential industrial growth and energy use, it will also prevents further damage to the environment.
Environmental sustainability is the ability to conserve natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support wellbeing, health etc now and in the future.
Renewable energy is a clean energy that comes from naturally occurring and inexhaustible sources like sun, wind, water, and plants. It cannot finish or depleted, it can only be renewed frequently and naturally.

HOW CAN RENEWABLE ENERGY BENEFIT THE ENVIRONMENT?

• It help us to fight climate change

• It resources does not finish, because it adapt to natural cycle

• It benefits economy and reduces economy uncertainty

• It is good for domestic economy

• It is desirous, combative and accepted around the world

• It generates no gas emissions there by lessens global warming

• It causes no air pollution and reduces harmful air pollutants

• It improves public health

• It creates job opportunity

• It stables energy prices

• It reduces dependence on imported fuel

• It safe money

• It protect the environment

• It lower carbon footprint

• It uses less water

HOW DOES RENEWABLE ENERGY SAVE MONEY?

• It is not good for environment alone, but also safe money

• It need less maintenance since they are using sun, wind, steam, biomasses, plants and water

• They do not need to refuel

• It does not depends on foreign energy sources

• It makes the users to be independent

• It reduces energy bill e.g electricity bill

• It protects from fluctuations of energy price

WILL RENEWABLE ENERGY CREATE JOBS?

The answer is affirmatively YES
There are many sectors of renewable energy that create job opportunity like :

1. Solar photovoltaic : this use silicon in converting sunlight to electricity e.g rooftop solar we see in homes and business places.

1. Biofuel : energy that is made from living matter e.g plants, many country are using it and employ a lot of people in this sector.

2. Hydropower (water power) : it is the use of falling or fast-running water to produce electricity and power machines, this is as a result of converting the gravitational potential or motion energy of water source to produce power. This sector employ plenty people in the whole world,in United State of America they employ many workers from project development, manufacturing, operations, and maintenance.

3. Wind : is the use of wind turbine in generating electricity, million of people worldwide have wind-energy related jobs and many countries like China are creating wind-energy related jobs.

4. Solar heating and cooling : this is a technologies that receive thermal energy from the sun to provide hot water, space heating, cooling and pool heating for residential, commercial and industrial applications, these technology substitute electricity and natural gas. So it creates job opportunity for many worldwide.

5. Solid Biomass : is the derivation of fuel from organic materials, like virgin wood or wood waste. It is used for electricity and other forms of power. Their stored energy is released through combustion and burning. Many people are working in that sector of renewable energy.

6. Biogas : it is the product of anaerobic digestion of organic waste provides a versatile energy source that can use methane for generation of renewable heat, electricity and fuel to replace fossil fuels.

7. Geothermal : it is the use of thermal energy in the Earth's crust that comes from the formation of the planet and radioactive decay of materials,
   this renewable energy sector provide job opportunity worldwide.

WILL RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES STOP GLOBAL WARMING?

YES although there are other things that will contribute to stop global warming, renewable energy sources is number one in the list.

Because renewable energy sources like solar and wind does not emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, unlike fossil fuels solar, wind, hydroelectric, biomass, and geothermal power provides energy without warming effects.
Most renewable energy sources produce very little to none global warming gas emissions even if it includes emissions from all the stages that is manufacturing, installation, operation, and decommissioning, the global warming emissions originated with renewable energy are minimal.

CONCLUSION

Extraordinary population growth result in increased farming, which leads to greater greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, poor health, and death. We see the consequences of global warming on our ecosystems and communities, eventhough there's industrial and technological growth we still need more power than ever, because our planet is going a breaking point. That’s the more reason we need to invest in renewable energy sources and responsible social practices to sustain our environment and secure a liveable future.
