Introduction

It's more than 144 hrs already and the blackout continues in this part of the world, quite a disheartening event that has lasted longer than expected. You are welcome to another edition of the diary game article where you would be exposed to how I spent my day. I hope to have you on this till the end.

The Diary

Blogging and Moderation

I woke to a very low charge on my mobile phone, at that point, it was just about 14% as such I stayed away from some online activities to conserve the battery for important calls that might come in on a Monday morning like this. The last time we had a power supply was midnight of the 5th of October and that makes it sufficiently more than 144hrs the blackout has persisted.

I couldn't do more with my mobile phone at that point (even my laptop is off), the power bank is also dead so I tidied up the house, bath, and had my breakfast. I checked the petrol engine for power generation and there was a little fuel that could help in charging my gadgets a bit.

I put on the generator, was charging my phone, and at the same time write my weekly report as a CR from Nigeria. It only took the generator about 2hrs before the engine went off, that's because the fuel has finished, with this, I realized 800 NGN (5.2 STEEM) worth of petrol can only last for 11hrs altogether. Well, I have some charges on my phone now and that should be sufficient till the evening.

I performed some curation with my account and around 13:00, my CR report was published. I took some long minutes to reply to a few comments on my articles which was followed by visiting the Steem4Nigeria community in the quest to review entries in the ongoing engagement challenge but after my first review, I realized an Admin has been on it when I was preparing mine as such I removed the grading then navigated to the Academy.

The Academy has about two entries at that time and I spent quite a reasonable time reviewing those entries. When I was done at the Academy, I moved back to the Steem4Nigeria community where I interacted with some of the entries made in our contest and then reviewed the only new entry at that moment.

Fuel Purchase

Remember, I highlighted earlier that my generator stopped working in the morning due to insufficient petrol in its tank. I was ready to step out at 17:30 to purchase fuel but it started raining at that time, it took me more than an hour waiting for the rain to be less intense. I eventually stepped out around 18:38 to a petrol station with my usual 5ltr container for the purchase.

Oduwoye Brothers Petrol Station

The price of petrol varies across several stations in my town and at the station I visited today, Oduwoye Brothers Nigeria Limited, it's sold for 185 per liter. I bought 800 NGN worth of the product which would hardly last for half of a day, burning fuel every day now has taken over since the blackout began which largely contributes to the unscheduled expenses. And no positive response has been made so far on it yet, it's quite disturbing these days.

Petrol Purchased at the Station

The rain wasn't disturbing any longer throughout my time at the petrol station, I stopped a commercial bus as I found my way back home and immediately put on the generator and ready to take my dinner which was a homemade cake shared with me by a neighbor.

Dinner

I have been watching the Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa during my dinner which was quite an interesting game that ended 1-1. I was very exhausted already and after the game, I was dozing off on the couch but I still have to leave the generator to run for more hours to charge my gadgets sufficiently and allow people charging outside my flat to have enough charges on their gadgets as well. At 00:00, I put off the generator and went to bed.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the blackout that has lasted for longer than we could ever imagine is having a big influence on my productivity these days, the time that could have been utilized for something productive things now turned to downtime because of the unavailability of power.

This period has greatly affected my learning process, we just hope power is restored sooner at least we would be relieved of burning fuel daily. Thanks for reading today and I hope you had a great time.

I don't know when this problem will end in the whole world. Sometimes such a situation is seen in Pakistan as well. The homemade cake in the dinner looks yummy. Thank you sir for sharing thediarygame in this hard situation. I appriciate it.

#steem-on

I understand that a few parts of the world experience blackout due to certain destructions on the environment. The case was a bit different here, it's peculiar to my community where it was established that some components have been removed from the transformer, but other regions of the town still enjoy power supply.

The question is who removed these components? The community said it was stolen and needed houses to contribute to pay for its replacement while many believed that it was deliberately done by the community leaders. Highlighting that some new houses in the community have not paid some levies and this is a practice the community has conned to get the money.

We don't know the actual truth of the situation but one thing I have managed to establish is that- "the midnight when the power was disconnected seem like a deliberate action", I was not sleeping at that time, and that doesn't look like the components were stolen.

I'm glad you love the cake. Thanks for your time on this, @malikusman1.

Those who have done this have done very wrong. And if the components of the transformer have been stolen, the leaders of the area should investigate and catch the thieves. I pray that everything goes well and that daily life goes back to normal. Thank you for the information sir.

Thanks for your time once again, @malikusman1.

Thanks for the support.

Hola @fredquantum esta situación es muy incomoda aquí en mi país Venezuela también tenemos ese grave problema, hay lugar que duran asta dos días sin luz aunque algunos pueden tener planta eléctrica, otros no porque son muy costosas.

Sorry to hear about the situation of things over there too, plants and fueling are quite expensive, there is no doubt about that. We hope things get better in our countries sooner. Thanks for your time on this, @beautiful12.

Hopefully, the electricity in your country will improve soon. In my area, when there is a power outage, various online related activities are hampered. Because the strength of the internet signal is weak. Sometimes, it even disappears.

You are quite right, dear @nadiaturrina. Blackouts affect a lot of things and it has affected me greatly here. Thanks for coming around.
