SEC WK2 : The language in my country
Centuries ago humans grew into large communities on Earth, from living singly to forming small groups. People will grow up in groups and interact with one another. This interaction is manifested in the form of language with their uniqueness, the uniqueness itself can not be separated from several adjacent areas that have similarities in interacting. Language is used as a link between one group/tribe / other nation, making it easier for human interaction to convey something that can be understood by others.
According to Google, there are at least 7,117 identified languages spoken around the world. Even according to these sources many other languages are not commonly used and are considered to reach hundreds of other languages. Officially the United Nations stipulates that there are 200 countries in the world, and all have their languages and dozens of them have something in common.
What is the name of your country? How many languages can be found in your country? |
---|
I live in Indonesia which has 6 large islands in it, with an area of 1,904,569 million km2. The country I live in is the 15th largest country in the world, with thousands of small islands stretching from Sabang to Marauke which are the two tip areas of the Indonesian state. Indonesia's vast territory is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the West, Australia to the South, Malasyia and The Straits China Sea to the North, and the Pacific Ocean to the East, making the Indonesian state 38 parts of the province.
Of the 38 provinces, Indonesia has 652 regional languages used by the people in their respective regions, with two immigrant languages and 1 national language or liaison (official) between provinces called Indonesian. However, I who live in the province of Aceh have its language as a local language that is termed as the mother tongue, the language is Acehnese.
My personal photos
Not enough there, the Acehnese language itself is divided into regional languages that have different dialects. Aceh province where I live there are at least 11 tribal languages that are part of Aceh province, the 11 tribal languages in Aceh include :
- Acehnese
- Gayo Language
- Jamee Language
- Kluet Language
- Tamiang Language
- Singkil Language
- Alas Language
- Devayan Language
- Pakpak Language
- Lekon language
- Haloban Language
This is not to mention the languages in other provinces in Indonesia, if in Aceh province the Acehnese language is the official language, then Indonesian is the official or national language used by more than 230 million Indonesian people.

Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with? |
---|
Of the many languages in Indonesia, Acehnese and Gayo are two local languages that I know and often hear, one of which I use every day in my daily life. But for other provinces although rare and not fluent I speak languages such as Batak, Javanese, Padang and Sundanese are not so foreign to me to hear.
How has this language improved/helped your life and business? |
---|
At the local level where I live Acehnese people, the Acehnese language is a language that makes it easier for me to move and interact. The Acehnese language became my mother tongue in my daily life, a language that I will continue to use and teach my children.
My personal photos
For the national level and also activities in the scope of work and daily activities, Indonesian is the official language that I use. Not only interacts with local communities but also can be used between provinces that facilitate all forms of interaction in the form of communication.
Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/No. State your reason. |
---|
Being a great nation makes me love Aceh and Indonesia as the country where I was born and raised, there is no reason for me not to teach our mother tongue. If I am able and my children are also able later, learning many languages in Indonesia is a uniqueness in loving the homeland, namely the language and the Indonesian nation.

Greetings friends! 🤝
The many languages in Indonesia reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of this country. Language is the main means of understanding and strengthening inter-community relations. In everyday life, the Acehnese language plays an important role at the local level, while Indonesian is a bridge of communication at the national level. Maintaining and teaching a mother tongue, such as Acehnese, amidst the diversity of national languages, is a valuable way to inherit identity and strengthen unity.🌟🌟
The way you portray Indonesia linguistic diversity is truly captivating! The sheer number of regional languages, each a testament to the rich cultural history, reflects the uniqueness of each province.
Terima kasih atas komentarnya bang chefdanie.
There are lots of languages in different countries and this languages act either negative or in a positive way. Having an Immigrant language and one national language it's great as this will help in the generalization to ease communication. Thanks for sharing.
