The Importance of having a Good Name

Introduction

I so much believe in the saying a good name is better than riches. A good name can be achieveable if you believe in yourself and work for it. Though sometimes it looks like fallacy to some people that one can live right and make a good name.

What do you think makes a name valuable and important?

A good name is not just gotten if not, nearly everyone or everyone would have gotten it. So, integrity, honesty, good impact and hard work makes a good name. That's why one who has a good name will always be remembered for one good deed or the other.

Do you believe that a person's reputation is more valuable than material wealth? Why or why not?

To be honest, I prefer my good reputation to any material wealth. If I am wealthy or must be wealthy, my good name should be attached to my wealth and not wealth with questionable names.
It can be very easy to make money anywhere and anyhow, but to make a good name is difficult because of the insincerity of many people in our world today.

The qualities that contribute to building a good name are;

• Trust worthiness
• Sincerity
• Good manners
• Kindess
• Humility
• Self discipline

How do you think having a good name can positively impact personal relationships and professional opportunities?

Everyone and organizations want to work or relate with people of good reputation and integrity. I'm not sure if there's anyone who wants to relate with people with questionable attitudes. Or do you want to?
So having a good name can earn you good personal relationships and opportunities.

Do you believe that a good name is something that can be inherited or passed down through generations?

To some extent I'll say yes, and on the other hand I'll say no. Yes, being that I have heard of how people got opportunities and favours because of their parents good names and deeds.

On the other hand, no. It doesn't mean that because a parent had good reputation that the children will also have or even maintain their parents own. And I have also heard of children who destroyed their parents good reputation, misbehaved and tarnished the parents good reputation.

Conclusion

Even the Holy Bible says;

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches..."source

So I urge us to always imbibe good manners, be truthful, be disciplined and be sincere at all times in order to earn a good name and reputation.
