What an interesting topic! I must say I'm excited to take part in a discussion such as this. Sometimes, people misinterpret or misunderstand giving.
Giving shouldn't just be a material item , gift can also be inform of rendering a service in the case of ones inability to afford a gift.

How about that? Yes, I'm serious. If you so want to give to someone but you can't afford it, you can ask the person involved where you can render help free of charge.
The person will/may also appreciate the efforts and the time you've sown to render the service.
But for this contest, gift item. How do you think it should be done? Read with me.

What is your definition of "Giving"

Giving is a free will thing. One can give to family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues or anyone else. Giving should be borne out of the expression of deep love and care for someone.
Giving shouldn't be motivated by greed, show off, pride or the desire to get in return what you've given out.
What's the meaning of giving?

What should be the right motive behind giving?

Like I mentioned earlier, the motive for giving shouldn't be borne out of greed, show off or the desire to get back what you've given or to get even higher. This will save you the stress, anger and bitterness when you're not given back or when you don't receive the measure you gave.
The motive for giving should be;

• To create impact on a person's life
• To add value
• It should be done out of love
• The act of giving shouldn't be done to prove a point or to receive what you've given in return
• Giving should not be done with the mindset of expecting even bigger gift than the one given.
• Giving should be done with the mindset that you can be blessed elsewhere and not necessarily the person you give to.

Do you believe in giving and publicizing the act. I.e sharing on social media?

To be honest, I do not like publicizing gifts or even to post it on the social media.

But in some instances, I've seen people publicizing gifts given to either people or an organization on the social media. In this aspect, I do not see anything wrong with them publicizing that, I feel they do this to encourage others to give as well. I see publicizing at this level as a motivation for others to begin to give. Just on a personal note, I don't want my gifts to be publicized but I'll rather publicize the one given to me because of the joy of receiving the gifts.

Mention some of the ways you think the act of giving should not be done

1. Giving should be done with respect regardless who you're giving it to.
2. Giving should be done in love and with love. That's don't be pressured to give.
3. If it is giving, it must be your best. I learned this from my pastor, it's not enough to give but give quality and not quantity.
4. Giving mustn't be publicized in order to show off. The Holy Bible Matthew 6:3-4 says;

"But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you”source

1. Giving should not be done for what you'll get in return, giving should be done whole heatedly.

In conclusion
n, giving should not be done casually, it should be intentional. Never give to be given back the same measure or even more than you've given, always bear in mind that your giving may come back to you in a different dimension.
