It is Important to understand the concept security because it actually entails our well being as humans. In general consideration, every living thing is entitled to safety from danger. With an interesting contest theme Security Matters to write, on the 3rd week of the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 12, here is my entry.

In a simple language, security is the state of being free from danger, insecurity and threats. It is also defined as the freedom from anxiety, fear, doubt and danger, resilience against potential harm which provides a clear sense of safety or certainty. Security is therefore divided into several forms/types
• Human security
• Home security
• National security
• Economic Security
• Corporate security
• Environmental Security
• Food security
• National Security amongst others

The primary duty of every government is the well being and safetty of her citizens. Nigeria is currently ranked one of the countries with the highest terrorism rate in the world. Despite the sh shortcomings on the security aspects, the Nigerian government has been making efforts to combat crime, insecurity and ensuring the safety of it citizens through..
• Commissioning special force on separate security agencies to fight crime in their various field
• provision of emergency call lines
• Implementation of new strategies

There are many means whereby one can keep his/her self safe. Few are amongst what I do

1. Security conscious and alertness
2. Practicing self defense
3. Installation of security systems if possible
4. Be friendly with the neighborhood and organize community watch or rather be involved
5. Report crime

In the last few years, Cases of insecurity has reduced massively in the residence I live. But recently, we experienced a robbery attack few months back (July precisely). It was at about 1am midnight when some group of men, dressed with the security uniform. They broke into people's houses, asking for money 💰, and other valuables like jewelries.

After their invasion, it occurred to us that the robbers were sent by our fellow community members. Unfortunately for them, they were been caught one after the other a week later

The number one thing to be sure of when keeping your home secured is by being security conscious and alert at all time. Beware of your surroundings and neighborhood. And also improve the security systems as well as the the door and gate security

In summary, when everyday social, economical, and cultural situations/phenomenal comes with a threat to security, then security becomes a value which competes with other priorities for human existence. Therefore security is the business of everyone.
