Contest; One Love

“One” is a single unit, while “Love” to me, is an intense feeling, a great interest, a deep affection for and having pleasure in something. Therefore, “One Love” to me is when everyone on earth has a single or the same intense feelings, great interests, deep affections and pleasure in each other’s race, creed, colour and persons.
In 2014, I got an invite to travel from Akwa Ibom State to Edo State, a distance of 362km by road to attend a professional training. Many thoughts came into my mine for the fact that I neither know nor been to where am going. I did not know the tribe or culture of the people I will be meeting on my arrival.
I started my journey by joining the first public transport available in my city. The journey took approximately 8 hours.

On arriving in the city, the road to the venue and the inscription on the gate to the venue further made me scared and curious about the people I will be meeting.

But because all of us, over a hundred, had a single intense feeling, great interest, deep affection and pleasure for each other and our chosen profession, there were no segregation at the venue, we were all loved by the instructors and participants as if we were all from one race and tribe (pictures of the training were not allowed to be taken by participants).
When everyone practice "One Love", it will contribute to building a stronger communities and relationships in that, families will be more united, communities will have one mine and thought and will be able to accomplish anything they set out to do. There will be no theft, disrespect to laws and tradition, backwardness or under development.
The message of "One Love" in our daily interactions with others can start from our home, when we are taught to know and practice "One Love" right from when we are infants; we will grow up with it. Schools can include it in their anthems; organization can spread it by including it in their slogans, logo, secular and letterhead. Nations can spread it by in including "One Love" in their national anthem and pledge.
Globally, if we all have single intense feeling, great interest, deep affection and pleasure for each other, the older ones will be treated with respect they deserve, young people will be given a level playing ground, tools and resources needed to actualize their dreams, there will be quality healthcare and security for all. Everyone will be “Love” as “One”.
