Parents play a vital role in shaping the lives, beliefs and culture of their children, guidance is necessary to enable children navigate through the complex situation, develop moral compasses and build self confidence and courage. Enforcing decision can protect children from harm, keep them safe and teach them responsibility but it can also be detrimental on a child development and upbringing.

Do you think it is okay for parents to influence the decision of their children

In the society we live in, it is natural as a parent to want to guide and shape your child decision but the question still and will remain is it okay for a parent to influence their child's decision. On one hand it is the responsibility of the parents to provide guidance and support, they have valuable life experience that can help their children in making the right and informed decisions and also provide critical thinking skills for their children.

In as much as parents guidance is needed enforcement of these decisions on them can be at times harmful, when parents tend to impose their own will on their children without giving the child the freedom to choose what they want it can lead to low self esteem, lack of autonomy and decreased motivation of the child.

Life is full of critical decisions that shape our life's and future, and two such pivotal moments are choosing the partner to spend the rest of your life with and selecting a course to study. During these times parents play a significant role in guiding their children into the right path. When it comes to the aspect of marriage, parents have their own perspectives on how to navigate their own relationship. They can share valuable insight about the marriage, offer emotional support and help their children identify the essential qualities in a partner. For the selection of a course to study parents can help their children identify their strength and weaknesses in various subjects, provide guidance on certain prospects and demands, encourage self exploration and self discovery. With the help of the parents these can be achieved.

It is often true that parents do play a vital role in the decision making a child, however despite the best and good intentions for their child, parents can sometimes misguide their children leading to unintended consequences. For example, parents may push their children into fulfilling their own dream rather than allowing the child to forge his own path And decision.

When I was a child my parents always tell me what to do, even though I knew how to do it my own way they wouldn't just allow me. So when it was time for me to pick a subject to enter in my secondary school as it would determine if I was going to art or science, my parents chose the subject for me and In that very moment I declined the decision. Am not saying they can't choose for me but they have no right making a decision without me, and so I made them realize why I chose my own core subject and they allowed me. It was actually my first time of standing up to my parents and I would say that I am glad I did.

In conclusion, it is important to note that while a parent are good in the decision of a child, sometimes they can enforce certain decision on them which may cause the child to either rebel or resent again you. Rather allowing them make decisions in accordance to your goals and rules enables them have the mind set of personal growth and self discovery.
