THE BASIC SOCIETAL VALUES SHOULD BE REVIVED BY @emaidoreyin•
Good day everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am so excited to be a member of steemit. My write-up today is, the basic societal values should be revived.
Firstly, societal values can be defined as the behaviours that are generally accepted and recommended by the society. Through modernization, many young people in the society no longer believe in hardwork, honesty, diligence, dedication, selflessness and other values that makes our society meaningful. Our youth are so desperate to get rich quickly which makes them to exhibit a lot of greed and love for excessive materialism. This has led to the loss of societal values.
Moreover, our societal value are; honesty, hardwork, diligent, loyalty, love, dedication, etc. All these mentioned above are been ignored in our present generation which is as a result of modernization. The consequence of the loss of this values can dangerously threaten the very existence of our society. Honesty and selflessness in service which are majored values should be cherished by a society. Those who acquired material wealth by dishonest and crooked means are praised and honoured while the hard-working but poor people are not respected which resolved to many young people not believing in hard work, perseverance and selflessness service. This has led to a lot of social vices like armed robbery, bribery, corruption and embezzlement.
In addition, material acquisition by dubious means should not be given more preference than respected values like hard work, dedication and selflessness. Homes and families should encourage their children that honesty is the best policy.
CONCLUSION
Basic societal values should be saved from drifting towards extinction in our society. Honesty, selflessness and hardwork should be celebrated, rewarded and put above any other thing.
