Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 45: Marriage and it's Environs

Marriage is a union between a man and a woman, this is quite a simpler definition of what marriage is, but there are some vital component that back up this union to make a successful marriage. However, in the case where any part of this component lacks, there is bound to be failure in there marriage except something is done, which the possibilities is thin. Marriage is most enjoyable when all component comes to play, such as love, trust, humility
and mutual understanding, which are the primary component that lead to a successful marriage and the could be secondary component which comes directly if the primary component is achieved, such secondary component include, attention, care, good communication and vice versa.

What I really think of what makes a marriage successful lies mostly on the primary component of marriage, which is what I have outline already in the introductory part of this post , but above all, having mention all that, I really do think mutual understanding and trust play a bigger role in what makes a marriage successful, cause if there is mutual understanding, and trust, others will be added such as peace, love, attention, care, effective communication between them and vice versa, as this will make a successful marriage.

Communication is very important in marriage, and couples can improve communication in marriage through the quality time they spend together, this will foster communication between them as this will lead to discussing crucial matters that will help the family to grow.

Furthermore, attention also play another role in improving communication between couples, you might spend time together without actually giving in attention, therefore you have to give your attention and listening ear, as this will help promote and improve communication.

One of the things we should understand is, when there is lack of trust in any marriage, that marriage is bound to face problems, when couples trust each other, this will allow the relationship to grow, there will be peace in the home and this also promote understanding in the relationship.

Conflict is a natural phenomenon, it does not exclude husband and wife relationship, but there are ways in which it could be resolve in a very healthy way which include;

• Communication; Any time conflict occurs, one of the ways it can be resolve is through communication, this is where couples sit and talk matters affecting them, and also looking at possible solution to the matter, instead of causing fight which will escalate the matter the more, peaceful communication set in to settle every dispute, what must follow to aid this communication to bring positive outcome is;

• Humility; Even the bible made is clear that Wife should respect their husband as husband should love their wives, therefore, where there is humbleness, it will strive both husband and wife to listen to themselves and this will result to the positive side of their discussion.

In my own opinion, I would not want to generalize my answer to a Yes or No answer. However, I choose to say maybe because it depends on the mode of distance, so with my following point, I would want to explain when I can say yes, it is a problem and No, it is not a problem.

Distance between spouse

• In the case of husband travelling for work, which will be for a few months, which he will later return to be with his wife, I personally would say No, it is not a problem, cause the distance will be a barrier just for few month.

• In the case where the husband resides maybe United States of America and leave the wife in Nigeria, as this usually occur most time and because of the nature of his work, he can only visit twice a year or once, I would say Yes, it can be a problem. since the marriage won't be enjoyable, as women need more love to themselves, they will certainly find attention, someone to talk and more, which might lead to something else and that mindset will be there that the husband is doing same, in which may result to having trust issues, so in a case like this I strongly say Yes, it can be a problem.

Cultural differences

Cultural differences is not a problem, this is the reason couples goes into courtship before marriage, as this will enable them know about their culture and if it will be possible to go on with the marriage.
