The Joy of Celebrating Labour Day

Thank you, @josepha for bringing up such a nice topic as "International Workers' Day and May Day" to provide our opinion about its importance. Yes, it's a national holiday in many countries, and we all workers celebrate it with great fanfare. Although labor day in my working country is the first Monday of October, I, as an Indian, can relate to May 1st perfectly.

International Labor Day, or "World Labor Day," is celebrated to honor the contributions of workers in various industries and sectors around the world.

Labor Day is celebrated across the world on May 1 and if I remember right it is celebrated in over 70 countries on May 1 but different countries have their own days when they respect their laborers.

We all know May 1st reminds us how to raise awareness and remind people about the importance and rights of laborers in every field. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to honor the achievements of laborers and workers and to honor their contributions to building the nation. Along with this, we have to raise our voices for the rights of the laborers and stop the exploitation.

This labor movement started in America on May 1st in 1886 when they celebrated the first Labor Day. This movement saw the workers come on the road with their demands, in fact, at that time, the laborers were made to work for fifteen or even more hours every day. In the midst of this movement, the police opened fire on the workers, in which the workers lost their lives and more than 100 of them were injured.

Years later, they held a conference, and it was decided that no worker should work more than 8 hours a day. In this conference, it was also proposed to celebrate Labor Day on May 1st, every year and make May 1st a work-free day every year.

This rule has been applicable in many countries as soon as Labour Day was held, and that was a game changer for laborers all over the world. They took the pledge that they must all protect the working class in every possible way. It was now indeed a game changer for the workforce, which was suffering from unfixed working hours and salaries. They were then treated better for their well-being and had a better life from then on, to a great extent if not fully.

It directly affects our lives and yours. Know how? Today, our working hours are fixed, whether you work in a factory, office, or from home. The rule is so strict in a few countries that one can't work for more than 8 hours a day, even if he is willing to work overtime.

When they decided to celebrate May 1st as International Labor Day the rule came into force that no company would ask the laborers to work for more than 8 hours a day, although some countries do it unofficially. And when the hours in a day were fixed, a minimum salary rule also came into existence, which is followed by all developed countries. So this movement brought two good rules to this day, the minimum wages and fixed working hours which changed the world for laborers all over the world.

So on Steemit Day, instead of writing new posts, we should read the articles of others and write our comments on them as much as we can. And especially, the more articles you read, the more you are exposed to high-quality writing. So that the quality of your writing also keeps increasing with time. The more you read, the more unique your own style will become.

The only way to develop our imagination is to read as much as we can. Reading gives us lots of ideas. And the more ideas we have, the easier it will be to get them down on paper. So Steemit Day will be celebrated as a reading day.

We should encourage our friends, children, and other companions to celebrate this day in their own way and know its importance. Special seminars and sessions should be organized to recognize the efforts of the labor force. We should teach everyone to give due respect to laborers and workers.

We should make our labor force aware of their rights, as the laborers working in industrial units, the unorganized sector, and private industry do not get wages according to the rules or whatever their rightful wages. We the people sitting in influential positions should take sides of laborers and not the owners who are still trying to exploit them.
