Hello friends I'm glad to share my thoughts with you all in this great community. I would put in my best to show excellence in this edition of our own SEC -S15W2 and here is my active participation.

"What is the name of your country? How many languages can be found in your country?"

The name of my country is Nigeria and there are lots of languages in my country. We have about 250 languages recorded but they are believed to be more languages in the country, but this is the generally accepted presently. Nigeria is located in the African Continent blessed with a variety of natural resources beautiful people, it had a large population, a good large mass of land and basically three major tribes in the nation which is Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba tribes respectively.

Moreso, these major tribes has sub ethnic groups which gave birth to lots of languages rising to about 250 languages and this sums up the genesis of the split in various languages for the goal of being autonomous. This is the summary of the origin of these languages and sub ethnicity for power fame and struggle for mass of land.

"Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with?"

There are a whole lot of languages in my country but I am most familiar with 2 languages the Igbo language and the Yoruba languages The Igbo language is one I am most fluent with because I a from the Igbo tribe, a son of the Igbo soil, therefore it is the language of pride to me, my people and that's a major reason I familiarize with the language.

Moreso, the Yoruba language is a second language I learnt in due time as a result of living in the West (where the tribe is located in the country). I lived about 4 years of high school education in Lagos, a big city in the country, I learnt the Lagos life and the Yoruba language, these are the languages I am most familiar with.

"How has this language improved/helped your life and business"

The local Igbo dialect has helped me immensely, I can say it has done miracles for me. Once upon a time I was stranded in a big park in no man's land in Lagos city. I lost my wallet to pick pockets. I was starring cluelessly, bit my lips till hot tears dropped in pain. A stranger passing by said in our local dialect "I hope this dude is not up to mischief" I immediately replied that I needed help in the same dialect, he raised a brow happy that he had seen a brother.

Futhermore, he got be an apartment in no time, gave me a good paying job I'm presently earning from, he is the link that gave me the foundation of success in business and finances. The language has helped me find hope when I was stranded. It has put food on my table, given me a good paying job, made me escape shame and disgrace, I'll forever remain grateful for learning the language

Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/ No State your reason.

Yes of course, I would make it a point of duty teaching my children this language, as I have gotten lots of achievement and favour from learning the language. It saved me in the face of adversity, therefore I would teach the the language. The major reason for teaching them is because they need to know their root and protect their ethnicity , culture which has been preserves for decades and passed from one generation to another.

Finally, It provides mutual unity amongst our people, if we know our language we would know how to interact with ourselves, provide help to our brothers as we recognize them therefore growing our economy as I cited in my own experience too. It would bring out unity amongst the young generation. This is who they represent therefore even if the get scattered around the world, the language would unite them and preserve the tribe!

Conclusion

The language is a passport revealing your identity, culture and promoting the legacy of your nation. It's a thing of joy to see someone represent his tribe with language for posterity sake defending what our ancestors preserved for years.

I have read several posts about taking part in this contest, especially the country. Most of those taking part in this contest can change their mother tongue. What is the difference between that language and yoruba??
Thank you for sharing.

The mother tongue from my assumption is the Igbo language while which is prevalent on steemit that's the mother tongue the youruba is scarce on the platform. Thanks so much

Hi @daprado1999, your post beautifully illustrates Nigeria's linguistic tapestry with over 250 languages. Fluent in Igbo and Yoruba, your cultural versatility shines. The Igbo language rescued you in a moment of need, opening doors to employment and success. Teaching your children these languages ensures heritage preservation and fosters unity. I wish I learnt all 3 languages at an early stage, it would have been easy for me today
