Greetings fellow steemians and welcome to my blog. It feels reassuring to have you here once more. For today's post, I will like t make an entry for a contest organized by @ihorgic and this contest is one of a kind.

The goal for my kind of contest has not changed, it's for us all to learn and check our belief system... Perhaps we've been running with the wrong mindset all our lives... Who knows?

I really fancy and admire the goal of this contest and this goal is the reason of me being a part of it. Nevertheless, some person's may be going about with a wrong mindset and know about it but still refuse corrections probably due to their pride or should I say arrogance.

WHAT DO I THINK?

Well, from my experience about life, I really and a hundred percent support the motion of "experience is the best teacher."

A person born with a golden or silver spoon will not know the taste of poverty, until he's parent goes bankrupt. If an individual don't experience the good, bad and ugly side of life, they will tend to do things without thinking straight of the consequences. This brings me to ID, EGO AND SUPER EGO.

According an Australian psychologist called psygmund Freud, there are three foundations of personality development which are the id, the ego and the super ego.
Id is the pleasure principle that seems for gratification, while ego(not pride) is the voice of God that counteracts the id and super ego is the reward and purnishment principle.

  • ID: the if is the foundation inwhich the ego and superego are built on. A child's personality is one that always seek for gratification..they want everything and expect their parent to get it for them.

  • Ego: this is the second stage of personality development and in this stage, the ego counter acts the id. For example, if the id is pushing a child to dedicate on the floor, the ego will tell the child not to because it is not good.
However most times, the child abandons the words of the ego and proceed to do what the id tells him/her to do. That is why the need of superego comes to play.

  • Superego: superego brings about he knowledge of rewards and purnishment to the child and this is brought about by story telling, and "experiencing" purnishment For example, if a child wants to deficate on the floor, but has an "experience" of him being flogged or scolded at when they did it, they will tend to look for the rest room by any means possible to avoid the experience with the cane.

APPLYING THIS THEORY TO THE TOPIC OF DISCUSSION

In our day to day lives, different voices (Id) talks to us to do insightful things that will bring shame to us. However, there is a small voice in our mind(ego also called the voice of God) that tells us not to do those things because they are not good. If a person have not experienced the purnishment of that particular thing, they will continue to do it irrespective of the fact that the Superego will remind them about the purnishment but if they have experienced the purnishment of that particular thing, thy will flee from it.

Another example is in decision making and risk bearing.
From my perspective, it takes an experienced person to make a good decision. For e.g from my previous experience I have being scammed countless of times by strangers and even friends, I will not trust anyone as much to give them my money or any important thing to hold for me, and the experience will teach me how to be very secured compared to before.

IS EXPERIENCE THEhe BEST TEACHER OR WISDOM?
These two words are just like a psychiatrist and a psychologist. To be a psychiatrist, one must study psychology but to be a psychologist, one will not have to study psychiatry.

According English dictionary,
Wisdom is The ability to apply relevant knowledge in an insightful way, especially to different situations from that in which the knowledge was gained.

With this, one don't need wisdom to be experienced, but one needs experience to be wise.
So, experience which is the best teacher teaches one the knowledge needed in other to differentiate between the wise and unwise, between the good and bad and make diverse good choices in life.

DO WE ALWAYS NEED TO FEEL, DO, TEST OR GO THROUGH THINGS OURSELVES EVEN WITHOUT ASSURANCE OF THE OUTCOME BEFORE WE LEARN OR GET THINGS RIGHT?
NO. We don't have to go through different worst scenerio in other to make things right. We don't have to fall in other to rise because we can decide not to fall. We learn from the mistakes of others, and these mistakes make the people who committed them to experience the bad steps, and this, if these people who have experienced these things advices us on the right step to take, we should first evaluate the advice, try and in your head, make a live scenerio of you applying the advice to your life, and if it works out, follow the advice and if it didn't workout, try to perfect the advice and follow it.

We have Idiosyncracy though, which means that some person's are wired in a way that they must make a mistake before they learn but for me? I always evaluate ones mistake and refine it to the max before taken a similar step that lead to that person mistake.

DO YOU THINK WISDOM, (WHICH COULD MEAN GOING ALL OUT FOR KNOWLEDGE AND APPLYING RIGHTLY) CAN BE A BETTER SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE?
In this context, I don't think the way you defined wisdom (going all out for knowledge) is correct.
LETS INTERLINK THIS THINGS

Critical Knowledge is gotten from experience. Going all out for knowledge isn't wisdom, but a search for experience which will in turn help in the IQ development and this bring about wisdom. The level of wisdom a person has is dependent on the rate of IQ they have through experience and gotten knowledge from with books or somewhere else. However, gaining knowledge from reading only books, magazines e.t.c will not make a person wise, but it'll make that person intelligent which i see as a minor stepping stone to gain wisdom.

That is all for this post, I hope I am able to convince you but not make you more confused about the fact that experience not wisdom is the best teacher.

Thank you a lot for stopping by to read this post, I really appreciate and it means a lot to me. I will see you in he next post.

On that note, I am inviting @cryptokannon @jueco and @simonnwigwe to Join in the contest.
