The Level Of Absence Of Rights In My Country
How Is The Level Of Human Rights In Your Place?
What Are Human Rights: |
---|
Human rights can be described as rights that are inherent to all human beings, nevertheless the sex, nationality, race, language, ethnicity, religion, or other status. Human rights equally involves the right to life, freedom and liberty from torture and slavery, obtaining total freedom of speech and expression and the right to work and education, etc. These rights are equally entitled to every citizen without discrimination.
Right in my place(country and state) the level of human right prevailed here could be rated 65%. I rated it this way because my country has disdain the quality of human right given to every citizen. Welcome to my country where there is a law that guides and protect us all but in that same law are lots of restrictions imposed on the citizens thereby making them to feel discriminated and unworthy to gain the freedom of the constitutional law.
Do You Think You Are Currently Enjoying Your Fundamental Human Rights As A Citizen Of Your Country? Tell Us How You Have Been Enjoying It.
You know, there are some basis fundamental human right that everyone has access to in my country, which involves right to freedom of movement, speech, right to vote, right to religion and many other. But right now as I speak I enjoy only 55% of the human right endorsed in our constitution. When the constitutional law has given us the rights to abide in, we still get restrictions in them.
For instance, you can't speak for or against a particular political party without being traced, tortured and killed for opening up to say out your opinion. There are also some places you go and will be restricted, not that it's a government house or that of a senate's. There are also some situations where a land owner gets to loose his property to government because they forcefully took it away from him. They either settle with a little token or leave you stranded with frustration.
Do You Have Any Such story where your rights were trampled? It doesn't have to be about you. Just tell us a case where someone had their rights trampled on by someone who should have upheld them.
I have sn uncle named "Smart". He is a prominent business man known for his great achievement and success rate. He had an estate where he rented over 30-40 tenants, with each of them paying 8000k naira, 7Steem a month.
Where he mounted or built that house was close to the main road side. He didn't have idea that the government might look into that road and figure out how to create a more broad way for vehicles to pass. That is the mistake he made before building or even buying the land. Or rather he would have shifted his building inside to avoid any inconveniences or issues.
He have had that house for 3 years before the government came warning every neighborhood to evacuate that present location to a more safer place and that in one week later they will be back. Two weeks later they came back warning again, but they couldn't listen. Then after more one week they came with bulldozers, allowed the tenants to pack up and then started demolishing the whole building.
After three two weeks time, they settled him with just 400,000k thousand naira, 3,637Steem which wasn't half of what he used in building his house. He laid complain and even inquired to see the present Governor of the state. He had an appointment with the governor's PA and he was told to come back in the next two weeks to collect the remaining balance which my uncle mentioned.
As he kept squandering his money on transport just to get back his remaining payment, they more the use him for a play. It continued for like two months until he gave up. And my uncle swore with his life never to let anyone intimidate him again, and that whosoever it is will be called police on hence he is a Man of great influence.
CONCLUSION
Am deeply opportuned to speak about the freedom and the level of absence of right in my country. I believe I have not spoken too much against the ongoing in my country, please bear with me if I did. I just plainly spoke out my mind. Thank you.
