What do you think makes a marriage successful?

There are so many things that make a marriage successful but it is imperative to note that the key decider here is the couples in question. If they want it to work and be successful, they have to be intentional about doing what works for them. And if they don't want it to work, this also largely depends on them (couples).

I have always believed that aside from other factors like having open communication, which comes with integrity, trustworthiness, humility, and so on, couples have the final say on how they want their marriage to be. There are some cases where most of these factors are in place, but we still see a conflict-laden marriage.

Understanding one another is important, giving unreserved trust, and communication are some of the major ingredients that work well in the marriage.

How can couples improve communication in their marriage?

Openness is one key marriage ingredients that help bring success to a home. This is one thing that has to be done to bring about prosperity in every side of a given marriage. When couples improve their communication style, they tend to overcome so many uncertainties and assumptions that bedevil the marriage.

When communication is improved, issues of assumptions where clarity of facts isn't true are simplified and the family feels a little more comfortable and less tense. We already know how the female gender assumes and takes things when they perceive any form of threat and insecurity around them.

Freely expressing oneself to the other would help and in doing so, there should be an atom of sincerity and trust to let loose everything. This fortifies the bonding between couples as there is little or no gap to come in between them.

Discuss the importance of trust in a marriage.

Communication in marriage fosters trust. Trust is another marriage ingredient that helps build more bonding in couples. This is the least we should at least give.to our marriages if we do want it to work. No partner wants to be with an untrusted partner no matter how little that would be.

This is the reason we should always gain trust in what we do. It can be built over time and when built, we should ensure nothing tarnishes this no matter how little it is.

How do couples healthily navigate conflicts?

Understanding marriages would help reduce issues of conflict no matter how aggravated they seem. We cannot pretend not to have conflicts since we are humans but rather, we should try as much as possible to resolve them through understanding.

We do not always need to be right in all circumstances. There are times when we need to shift grounds and allow for a peaceful resolution. Being peaceful does not end at anyone's table but it should be a joint effort to allow for a peaceful resolution mechanism and understanding is the watchword.

Do you consider the distance between spouses and cultural differences a problem in marriage? Why?

I don't distance should be a problem in a situation where we have the likes of understanding, trust, and communication in place. I have seen situations where couples are apart and stay in different cities without hurting or breakdown of union.

We know that there are jobs that we take that keep us apart but with tendencies to bring us closer once in a blue moon all to generate revenue to fund the family. All that is needed in situations like this is an understanding of the entire situation and open communication without reservation.

In today's society, tribal differences aren't an issue of concern anymore. All that matters.is loving one another and communicating in a language everyone can understand. If we could count during the relationship, I don't think it would be an issue during the marriage.
