**SEC S15W5: "My Country and Her Mineral Resources."**

in Steem4Nigeria6 months ago

Welcome friends! Mineral resources are natural endorsements beneath our soils. They are not manmade creations but with a utilization that depicts man-made activities. They represent to a greater extent the strength of a country and how much revenue they earn. On this basis, it creates different comparative advantages for different countries.

Give us a brief introduction to your country.

My dear country and motherland is Nigeria. The Giant of Africa is commonly known and a big brother to so many neighboring countries that border it. Nigeria as a country gained its independence on 1st October 1960 after the British colonial rule.

It is a multilingual and multi-religious country where everyone coexists for the central growth of the country. A country with over 500 dialects and two major religions namely; Christianity and Muslim. This cut across the regional and political divide of the country.

We have Muslim-dominated areas in the north and Christian-dominated areas in the south. Political offices are also federated in a manner that federal character is implemented to have everyone in the fair and just bucket of equity.

Most importantly, it is a federating state with 36 states and 774 local governments. Every federating unit is an autonomous entity except for contents in the exclusive list that the central government has jurisdiction over.

What is/are the mineral resources your country is blessed with

These are some of the mineral resources found in my country.

  • Crude Oil
  • Gold
  • Limestone
  • Coal
  • Dolomite
  • Zinc
  • Salt
  • Clay
  • Lead
  • Gypsum
  • Kaolin, etc.
Has these mineral resources been fully harnessed

I cannot say that these listed mineral resources have been fully harnessed in my country. Some are either under harnessed, or yet to be harnessed since their discovery, while others are optimally used.

For example, crude oil can be said to be optimally utilized in my country unlike what is seen by others. Since it is the country's main revenue generation, it has received so many developmental paths.

Has the proceeds from these resources been used properly by your government for the welfare of her citizens...support your answer (Yes/No) with good points.

When a country's resources are shared evenly among all areas and regions of the country, we shouldn't be seeing symptoms of insurgency, agitations, diverse insecurity, etc. This has been the fate of my dear country instead.

Resources have been poorly distributed instead we have corruption and high-level looting taking the lead in our frontiers. The country has been oppressed by a few politicians who instead of utilizing the resources in their case well, embezzle them.

For the distribution of resources, my country has failed in this aspect. Efforts to correct this anomaly have proven difficult instead there are more cases of monumental corruption.

In summary, my dear country has remained a country with abundant mineral resources and can be great if these mineral resources are well harnessed and proceeds evenly shared among citizens welfare.

I am inviting @xkool24, and @hisgeneral to join the contest.

Nigeria, endowed with diverse mineral resources, faces challenges in their full harnessing. While some resources like crude oil are optimally utilized others remain underutilized or untapped. Unfortunately mismanagement and corruption plague the distribution of proceeds, hindering equitable development. #Nigeria #MineralResources

Your article overview of Nigeria's mineral resources and the challenges faced in their harnessing and equitable distribution reflects a deep understanding of the country's dynamics. The mention of corruption and the need for better resource allocation to address societal issues adds a thoughtful perspective. May Nigeria find effective solutions to ensure the proper utilization of its rich resources for the benefit of all citizens.✨
