Grasshoppers are typically ground-dwelling insects with powerful hind legs which allow them to escape from threats by leaping vigorously. Their front leg is shorter and used for grasping food.
Their body is divided into three: The head, Thorax and the abdomen.

Fact about grasshoppers

1. Grasshoppers and locusts are the same thing. ...
2. Grasshoppers have ears on their bellies. They can hear, but can't distinguish pitches very well.
3. Grasshoppers make music by stridulating or crepitating.
4. Grasshoppers can fly.
5. Grasshoppers have five eyes. Three small eyes only detect light and dark. Two large eyes (compound eyes) have many lenses and their view is in colour. They work especially well for seeing and movement.

What are the benefits of grasshoppers to the earth's ecosystem and humans in general?

Let us first of all look at the meaning of ecosystem. An ecosystem is a community or group of living organisms that live in and interact with each other in a specific environment.

The benefits of Grasshopper to the world ecosystem and humans are:

• As herbivores, they contribute to the natural balance of plant populations by consuming vegetation.
• They create nutrients by breaking down plants, fertilizing the soil with their faeces and facilitating plant growth.
• They hunt small plant pests.
• It inhibits plant growth and prevents congestion and death.
• Grasshoppers also cause direct crop losses by feeding on ripening grain.
• They serve as a source of nutrients for humans.

1. A4 paper
2. Pencil
3. Razor blade
4. Eraser
5. Tissue paper

Step 1

I Started by drawing the frame of the head, the thorax and the abdomen of the grasshopper. I also draw the frame of the wings it uses to fly.

Step 2

I drew the hind legs which allowed them to escape and I also shaded the wings of the grasshopper appropriately.

Step 3

I shaded the hind legs, drew the front legs, designed the abdomen as expected, and shaded the entire grasshopper excluding the head.

Step 4
I input all the features found on the head: the compound eye, antenna and have them shaded.
