The Diary Game || 26-02-24 || The first presentation of our lives in tertiary institution
picture of my group before presentation
Dear Diary,
It was one of the best day of my life this year. I've never felt love in team work this much the way I felt that Monday. It's very much normal for me to feel nervous whenever I know I'll be presenting some day but this nervous wasn't there. In fact, I prepared what I was going to present that morning. How unusual! Something spectacular happened that shaked the whole school after quite a number of years. Guess what? I'll spare you the narrative
Preparation for the presentation |
---|
Guess what? It was this morning I thought of preparing for my presentation that day. I was just so vent on looking for ways to survive first before venturing into anything academic. My team and I were to do a presentation on Career prospects in chemistry as a course while other teams were given other topics from biology, chemistry and physics. Hearts filled with joy, I used the limited time I had to look into comestic chemistry as that was my area of specialization.
My confidence was just so high in nailing that presentation. I left for school dressed in red shirt and black trouser with a black tie. My neighbour took me in his car of which I alighted to take a cut. I felt late though as I thought my team would be first in line to present. So I did things hurriedly. On stepping out to the salon, a customer entered as well meaning he was the first to cut his hair.
I wanted leaving and then manage my hair for the presentation as there was no time but then thought of pleading with the man to allow me cut my hair first. The man did so willingly without hesitation. In my mind I was like, if only Nigerians could be this way in some situations, the country would be a better haven. This is me and my hair stylist.. Before leaving the house, I had my bags filled with some teaching aids like the cosmetics I'll be talking about to enhance understanding.

I boarded a bus after my hair was nicely cut to school. On my way to school, I stumbled on a bus driver who held his brake carelessly, making the car from behind collide with it badly. The two vehicle drivers came down and started debating in words. My driver left no doubt unlike some who stopped to hear the gist even with passengers in the vehicle.

Feeling late, I expected this driver to speed up so fast to the best of his ability but something tested my patience. The driver was at the verge of leaving the **traffic light **when it showed red. Instead of him to drive past, he stopped. I was so mad that I felt like strangling him. Three other drivers from behind did pass and he stood right in front of the traffic. I couldn't blame him because he was being obedient to traffic rules but that wasn't a smart move I must say.

On getting to school, I was shocked. By what? For the first time in 2 years my city's federal university, UniUyo opened it first gate. This gate has been closed for quite a good number of years with no reasons for closure. This stressed us a lot as we'll have to trek down to the main gate and then trek inside to our faculty. If one was late, he would rather spend money to board a bus but this isn't the case now.
I didn't board a bus. I used the first gate and then arrived in 3 minutes, something that would have taken me 20 minutes on the long run. I reached the laboratory for which the presentation would be done. In the other laboratory where students would stay, there is a television, speaker, chairs and lot more. In this laboratory, you could see how one present in the other laboratory through the sid of the television and speaker.
I took to photographing the first set of students that were present. They were vent on preparing their package for presentation in case they are called upon. Others were busy rehearsing. This was the least of my problems as I was focused on giving people the best of shots they could ever dream of.
This is a picture of one group, probably group 10. I took to checking other group members and found group 6 trying to prepare how they'll present before the lecturers. This presentation is this preparing us for project word and seminars. Seems group 6 were more serious than other groups and they too were dressed formally.
I took to visiting my group. I spent much time with my group members being group 8 and then gave them the best of time they could ever ask for from me. I took to capturing every moment and individuals in the group. We were blessed with a girl and there's one funny thing about this group which is that all of us here are tight friends since we started our 4 years journey. My smile was too obvious. For the first time I've never been tensed for anything serious. I was quite surprised as well.
I then went ahead in capturing other people. The presentation commence much earlier though and it was those given biology topics that were first.
Observations |
---|
I took some of these observations from the corrections made by the lecturers involved in watching these presentation. They made some vital corrections when it comes to presentation. The questions asked pissed a lot of presenters while those viewing were just laughing as it was funny though. One Lecturer even asked a student where she's from, her father's age and her father's clan, far off from the topic presented. This is a pictorial representation, showing a student present.
I was now time for ours but I took a lot of pictures before this time came. When it was time for me to display my talent with my group, I took my *cosmetics" with me and entered the laboratory. The lecturers welcomed us in and we were just so prepared as the first presenter commence. I followed suite with this perfect introduction;
Imagine on your way to school, you had no soap to bath. You'll assume you have cream to substitute but unfortunately there's no cream. You'll assume you have perfume but still, you have none. You'll probably be repulsive because byou lack chemistry and this chemistry revolves around a career called comestic chemistry.
I didn't even unleash all I had to say when I was cut off and told to give the mic to another person without interrogation. We all nailed it. Our presentation was just so perfect that we weren't asked questions. We were the only set of students that weren't asked questions. God was just by our side.
When I left the laboratory, I took to joining the group picture and then doing everything photographic. I have nothing else to offer but thanks to God. The smile was hard indeed. I took to capturing almost everyone in my department and these are pictures of them.

They'll forever live to see this picture someday. I was their photographer.
